According to Google, there are over 16 million miscers. I bet the misc drives the vast majority of traffic to this site. It would be an incredibly stupid move to shut it down.

Hopefully they're doing updates or cleaning things up. I wish a moderator would chime in and let us know what's actually going on.

Yeah the main thing that worries me is the lack of any moderator/admin informing us of what's going on.

So to my understanding, those with 1000+ posts are still able to access it? Is that what it is?

I still go back to 10-yr old posts there from time to time for the funnies, the life advice, etc.

Can you view a list of moderators/admins there? Can they put out a message of what's going on?

As mentioned earlier 16 million viewers definitely doesn't translate to 16 mil accounts. Generally, 80% of a website's frequent users don't even post, they're just everpresent lurkers. An even smaller fraction are those who post daily (<5%). It seems silly to block out the heavy majority of misc readers just because apparently a few rêtards were a pain (if that's the reason).

From what I've read, there are over 16 million miscmembersand this site receives 7.9 million hits per day. I can't imagine any site being stupid enough to get rid of a forum that generates that much traffic.

-misc is now only accessible when logged in and the account was previously active enough on misc
-Mathematician miscer calles bb.com customer support in a vacaroo. Courtney picks up and informs us that 'IT maintenance' is going on to 'improve' the misc. Courtney says its temporary. Also verifies it's pronounced 'misk'. thread gets deleted
