In for the dissapointment when we lose on penalties in the round of 16 or quarter finals.

Can't make my mind up on Brazil, they've been piss poor at World Cups since 2002, never matched the hype.

Glad to see there's a thread. Was there in 2014 (yes brag) and it changed my life. This is the greatest sporting tournament in the world, and only for one month every four years do we get to enjoy it.

My faves to win:
- Brazil
- Germany
- Spain

Darkhorses:
- Croatia (in a tough group but no clearcut 2nd best team after Argentina. I think they can get through group stages easily and go on a run)
- Colombia (they have superstars and are arguably even deeper than in 2014, when they lost to a weak Brazilian side in the quarters)

Germany/France/Spain/Argentina on paper. Maybe even in that order for me.

We still calling Belgium a "dark horse"?

Nice, haven't followed most of them as closely as usual.

Problem is Brazil tends to have alot of superstars but can't pull it together. Ever since 06.

My top 4 picks to win are
1. Brasil
2. Germany
3. France
4. Spain

Wouldn't be surprised if either of those teams win it but I kinda hope an underdog team shows up and steals the show. Like Uruguay, Colombia, or Belgium.

Fair enough. And from a real Belgian as well.

I guess my point is that every pundit/average Joe picks them at every Euro/World Cup as a "dark horse" as if they don't have a deep squad, with some world-class players at the top (KDB/Hazard). It's hardly a risky pick.

Ramos (who is always clutch in big games)
Azpilicueta (imo one of the best defenders in the world)
Jordi Alba
De Gea (possibly best keeper in the world)
Thiago
Isco
David Silva
Diego Costa

If Spain decides to turn up, they could win it. They have the best squad imo. Depends on the coach really

It's still a dark horse in comparison to championship-calibre squads like Germany, Brazil, France & Spain. Then you have the Argentina's/Portugal's/England's/Columbia's.

It would be a massive story for Belgium to win it all. Been to the semis once.

Spain are missing someone clinical up front in their prime. No David Villa/Prime Costa or Torres anymore.

I'm always torn between rooting for them because they a lot of the Madrid players who I'm a big fan of, then they have *******s like Pique.

I can't stand Ramos tbf. Guy is a major bellend
I just hope this world cup gets hyped up and no politics ruins it because of who's hosting it. I'm from England so I hope England do some damage with Vardy up front. Apart from that, I think either Spain or Germany will win it. Brazil can suck my left nut

Never loved the English game, but it's about damn time you f*ckers made some noise in an international tournament.

1 point last WC outing??? And then the Iceland tragedy in the Euro '16. QF in Euro '12. R16 in WC '10. DNQ Euro '08.

That is a terrible decade, anything less than a QF berth should be seen as a huge failure, and tbh it should be SF or better.

I used to want England to lose because of how **** they were. When they lost 4-1 to Germany with that Lampard goal that wasn't given, I celebrated like ****. Can't stand them because of how **** they are, but at least with Vardy up front, I think we can do some damage.

That Iceland game though. Those moments are priceless. I hope we get more games like that in this world cup.

On another note, I honestly think Iniesta will go down as one of the GOATs of our generation. I think he deserves more praise than Neymar, Ronaldo or Messi

He'll always be in Messi's shadow, but I do think he'll go down as one of the GOAT MFers. Leading that Spanish Golden Generation, in addition to his stellar club career, has pretty much cemented him as a top 15 (maybe even top 10) player ever. Some say he's the best player to never win Ballon D'or.

He already has gone down as one of the GOATs, but to put him above Leo/Cristiano is too much. I have no issue putting his impact above Neymar as he is still writing his story, but Iniesta got to play in Spain's golden age, with Barcelona from inception, and his partner in the MF was another legend of equal stature in Xavi, and a player with arguably the greatest peak of all time in Ronaldinho.

He had an all-time great in Puyol behind him, and was servicing the ball to lads called Henry/Ibrahimovic/Eto.

I honestly believe noone will replicate the club resumé of CR7/Messi, and add to the fact that a very average Portuguese side won a major international competition (albeit without making an on-field impact on that final) and it's too hard to say Iniesta deserves more praise.

He does have 2 of the most memorable game winners of all time though in the CL against Chelsea and then the winner in OT for Spain.
