Always think its a shame having absolute trash like Saudi Arabia, when we are missing the likes of Netherlands, Italy, Chile

I know its the World Cup and needs representation from the weaker continents but it goes too far

Swap Euro Cup with Euro-South American Cup and you have the top teams in the world. The only loss would be Costa Rica and maybe Nigeria.

Europe and South America would probably naturally make up about 25 of the 32

Mexico are always deservedly there, sometimes African teams can be really strong (Ivory Coast 2010 with Drogba, Yaya, Gervinho, Kolo etc)

How many goals is Salah gonna score on Saudi Arabia? Crazy that we'll have 48 teams in 8 years.

Probably none or one, the rest of his team is dog ****. Without space and the right balls I don't think he'll be that effective, and we know he'll be double marked

Came in to post this. Middle eastern and most north African teams have historically embarrssed themselves on this stage and the fans are the ones who pay the price.

FFS, they don’t even take the tournament seriously by maintaining their Ramandan fast leading up to the games.

They need to have a second qualifier round for those knocked out of real brackets and pit them against the atletically challenged nations that squeak into the tourney.

Or they can just keep this awful format and keep getting beat out by the Euro Cup in terms of entertainment and talent.

Russia has just destroyed Saudi Arabia. But as usually i dont see them getting far here. They always choke in the really important matches.
Rooting for Germany - as always. Lets defend that title!

Yeah, but the first thing they did when they went back to Costa Rica, after making it to the quarters for the first time in their history, was to fire the coach, I wouldn't expect much from them.

Good stuff. Game started off sloppy but Russia took advantage of a poor Saudi Arabia squad and gave us some world class goals. That 4th goal was goal of the tourny type stuff...what a fkn strike man. Glad the WC is back.

Portugal did win the Euro a couple years ago and they always tend to play close against each other in major tournaments. Last time they played was 2012 with the golden Spain team and it went to penalties. I think it will be a lot closer than Russia vs Saudi Arabia.

Saudi is garbage. 0 shots on goal in 90 minutes, Russian keeper could take a nap and still get a clean sheet. It’s not going to be that easy against Uruguay and Egypt.

Spains defense super solid, world class defenders across the board as well as the best goalkeeper and holding midfielder in the world

Dont see how portugal can break them down with a 35 year old Quaresma and co, they are just completely devoid of talent outside CR7 and Silva

France have an absolute super team, stacked everywhere. Scary that pretty much all their players should still be in their prime in 4 years, and who knows what the likes of dembele, mbappe, martial could be by then

Pretty much any other team will. Russia's defense is sh*t and their goalkeeper, Akinfiev, is famous for being an undisputed record holder for the most consecutive goals missed in a Champions League main stage. Saudis are just so freaking bad that even Russia crushed them. You can't sneak a goal in with 0 shots on target, at least blast one from a distance or something. They should just pack their bags and go home.
