If I had to guess with two months left, these will be our playoff situations

NL

1. Braves
2. Dodgers (ugh)
3. Brewers vs. 6. Diamondbacks
4. Phillies vs. 5. Reds

I think the Giants will fade and the Marlins will fade. Both have challenging schedules the rest of the way.

Interesting side note, the Reds and Brewers don't see each other once the rest of this season. I'll stick with the Brewers taking it and bumping the Reds to the WC.

AL

1. Baltimore
2. Astros
3. Twins vs. 6. Toronto
4. Texas vs. 5. Tampa Bay

Hate to say it but I think the Astros rise above the Rangers down the stretch. I also think we'll get an encore with them facing in the ALDS after Texas drops TB in the WC round. So that will be a fun series to watch play out. We'll also probably see an intra-division meeting between the O's and Jays, granted I expect the O's to wipe the floor with them.

Playoff predictions rest of the way

NLDS: Braves vs. DBacks; Dodgers vs. Phillies
NLCS: Braves vs. Dodgers

ALDS: O's vs. Jays; Astros vs. Rangers
ALCS: O's vs. Rangers

WS: Braves vs. Rangers

Taking some liberties with these predictions. I think the Astros are probably the most likely team to take the AL but I'm going to go out on a limb and have the Rangers drop them and ride that momentum. I could also see the Reds beating the Phillies and admit that one is anyone's guess. I can never predict which Phillies team is going to show up is the problem.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

I've played/watched baseball since I was very young and I'm getting tired of this.

MLB needs to do something about intentional walks. Fans pay money to see players bat not walk to first because the pitcher is a pussy and can't locate a pitch.

Force a pitcher to throw 4 pitches (**** you and your arm/pitch count) and intentional walks2 bases. I understand baseball is a game of strategy and percentages but I can't see the game being around for much longer if they continue down this path. You can't attract new fans if the batters don't have a chance to break records or do great things, meanwhile the pitchers have all the power.

/end rant.

Max Fried dominant in return.

Rangers and Astros picking up 40 year old pitchers to bolster their playoff run and Braves just sitting here not having to trade sh*t and welcome back a prime Cy Young talent like it's no big deal

It's over for the rest of you this year lol.

So as a long time fan i am glad when a team performs well during the season, but let's be realistic here.
The teams with the most wins rarely wins the whole thing and we have seen this for years.
I check the standings often and then teams in 1st place flame out in the first or second round to wild card peaking teams.( not always but more than not)
As the stockbroker says, be cautiously optimistic.

it is about timing and peaking.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

lol just lol

This only holds true when the team in question isn't ridiculously dominant to everyone else. Giants fans in here coping thinking they have a chance if they make the WC.

2018 Boston dominated start to finish - won the WS
2016 Cubs dominated start to finish - won the WS
2009 NYY dominated start to finish- won the WS
2004 Cardinals dominated start to finish - lost in the WS (to that Sox team of destiny though)

The only teams to have truly choked while being the overwhelmingly dominant team during a season?
2001 Seattle
2022 Dodgers (because it's the Dodgers)

Sorry but history is not on your side when a dominant team emerges during the season. It's one thing to have the most wins, and another entirely to be clearly better than everyone else.

Umm i know where the Giants stand in 2023 and we won our WS mostly with wild card teams, but baseball began in 1903 and you cite, ummm.....6 examples?
Don't get me wrong Atlanta is playing amazing, but don't be naive, blind, or a "homer" to 100 years of baseball history.
preseason, the season, and postseason.
Just being honest and realistic compared to an example using N=6..........

First off I cited every team that could be considered the run away favorite since 2000. I don't have all day to list out 100 years of history. And 6 seasons that were absolutely dominated in the last 23 years is about right. Are you expecting there to be an overwhelming favorite more season than not?

Keep talking N = 6..... you are stupid as f*ck. I'd legit be curious to know how many seasons you would expect there to be an overwhelming favorite in the span of 23 years.

The only person being naive to history with some dipsh*t N=6 excuse would be you buddy

I love your passion and insults........but 6 is to small.
Lmao, and that is the point that you conveniently missed or skipped over as an Atlanta "homer"
Sorry that i upset you so much to make you say this, ". you are stupid as f*ck."

Take a deep breath, the Cubs are on a roll lately.

6 out of 23 years is too small lmao..... Sorry I'll remember to shoot for 23 out of 23 next time.

No one cares about the Cubs (or Pirates)

Watching the Braves Mets game and they did a segment on Acuna's brother who is in the Mets organization now after the Scherzer trade. Compared him to Carl Crawford which gets me to my very roundabout point....

Remember how good Carl Crawford used to be? I honestly feel he was actually unappreciated. People knew who he was but I what I mean is he deserved even more credit. A .300 hitter who could steal 50-60 bases with 15 HRs. That's a really really major asset at the top of any lineup. Only a 4 time All Star. Only 1 top 10 MVP race finish.... those are way too low for the caliber of a player he was imo

You were watching the Mets announcers broadcast of the game?

As every season fades to black, I always have Gary, Keith, and Ron to get me through the entire season.

Steve Gelbs did that segment. He replaced Kevin Burkhardt as the Mets stadium "reporter" after Kevin went on to bigger and better things.

I watched their entire broadcast for game 1 of their double header vs ATL today. It's nice being able to choose which feed to watch or listen to with mlb.tv. It was really comical during the end, though

I don't even have cable bro. I just stream sh*t illegally lol. The streams I use default to the home team and I usually don't bother switching it because I have to close a bunch of ads and stuff every time I load up a new stream.

Imma keep it real. Dodgers will probably win the WS this year and even pass the Braves for best record before the season is over. They're playing better than everyone again and we have a 4 game set with them in like 2 weeks in LA. Braves will probably get straight up swept. Dodgers are only 5 back in the loss column. They'll probably pull even or close to even around that point then play better the rest of September to take best record.

F*ck that team. Seriously sick of them more than any other team in the history of baseball.

You're like an entire year late with this post lol.

Everyone knows they could make noise now.
