I wish I could find the source but I read the other day that Gen X'ers are having way less teenage pregnancies than millennials. The article attributed it to better education about birth control but I don't think it comes down to birth control.

I think men are increasingly dropping out of the game and their dropping out earlier and earlier. Today's females grow up much quicker than yesterdays. The teenage boys are realizing that if their not in the top 10% of the gene pool they don't have a shot with even the top 40% of the girls. I was in Japan in 1995. It was fine back then and I knew people who dated. Sure you can blame the entry of women into the workforce as one reason, but you cannot blame them for the entire situation over there. It wasn't the role of women in society that caused this issue but rather the economic decline of the country since the early 90's. After this point in time, the Japanese economy started to panic and get worried. Do you ever wonder what happened to the 90's Japanese sports cars? Well, people stopped buying them because they couldn't afford them no more thanks to the crash of the Japanese asset price bubble. This decrease in financial confidence caused people to have less kids due to the threat of unemployment and the inability to raise them. Also, the work-oriented culture of Japanese people. They bring a whole new definition to hard working. These people work investment banking hours for non-IB jobs to keep their income steady.

Combine the difficulties of finding employment in Japan with the hardworking culture, people are too insecure with their money and time to have kids, let alone a GF.
