The brains or the brawn...?

Let’s consider 2 guys:

The “Smart Guy” is average-looking, but smart, charming, and generous.

The “Handsome Guy” is very good-looking, but self-centered, selfish, and boring.

Let’s assume all other things (like their material status) are equal.

They both have a chance to strike up a conversation for say, 30 minutes, then ask for a woman’s phone number.

In your opinion, what percentage of women will give their number to

A. The “Smart Guy”

B. The “Handsome Guy”

The boring handsome guy would get more if he kept the convo to 5 minutes rather than 30.

Smart guy could pull if he's tall and works his niche of smart girls.

Jock dude could pull smart girls, dumb girls, their friends, and their moms. They all want to get stuffed by a big, robust football player type. Guys like that are never single.

Where men are concerned, I have a theory that looks tend to get over-valued because we generally neglect to parse out the other qualities that are contributing to said man's romantic success.

Good looking people are almost always somewhat decently social. It is extremely rare for a good looking person to be very poor socially and/or boring and/or weird or autistic. I mean it does happen, but it's certainly not the norm.

So, whenever you see a good looking bloke get a lot of play, you're also seeing someone who is relatively social competent get a lot of play.

If there were more autistic / socially retarded good looking men out there, I think they'd be a greater appreciation of the importance of qualities outside of looks, but such men are nigh on non-existent.
