Attention Tat Bros...

I've never had a tattoo in my life so I'm asking out of pure curiosity. Have you ever gotten a tattoo that you didn't know what it meant or represented? If you did but later found out what it did mean...how long did it take before you figured it out?

Never had a tat either. I just don't see the need for one. I know some think a tat defines them - and kudos to them - but simply not for me

Several years ago Japanese Kanji character tattoos were a big fad. Apparently a lot of them found out after the fact that instead of the profound Confucian saying they thought it meant, it was actually just gibberish or sweet and sour pork or something.

The FBI already has like 7 or 8 copies of my finger prints. I don't think a tat would make much difference.

This exact thing happened to me when I got my pretty good sized back tattoo.

Id seen some insignia somewhere - I didnt even remember where at the time, but the image had been stuck with me for a while. I was more impulsive in those days and thought it would make a cool back piece. So I just... did it.

The image was these two conjoined circles, with this long sort of cylinder protruding from the middle of them. All around the two circles were small squiggled lines, and at the end of the cylinder was a mushroom cap with a ridge carved like 2/3 the way across the top. Very mysterious, very exotic. Shit was rad as hell tbh.

Never found out what it actually means but it still covers the majority of my back to this day.
