Truly want to say - regarding women/gf/wife, it really is over for me

I had hope until age 39 and was actively dating numerous girls but had to go on an extended break due to life setbacks so didn't date at all during age 40. Now I'm 41, was hoping to get back into the dating world, but new job depresses me a lot, I don't have the energy/motivation to even try to go out to meet women, I can barely find interest to swipe on apps, etc.

I should've probably stuck with one of the girls I was dating but there were some red flags so I had to release them. I think I wanted the typical family with a loving GF and kids to enjoy life with, but it seems like the ship has sailed.

Nah that's a trap and those are prisons. Eventually she will start wanting sex less and become fat and then you won't want to fxck her at that point either. Better to keep your options open to trade in for a newer model whenever you get tired of your current ride.

You definitely did the right thing if they had red flags though. Nothing worse than getting stuck in a relationship with some sloot who has problems let alone if she had your kids.

it can be a trap falling too in love with these "perfect" scenarios we create in our minds. everyday there are people getting cheated on, wives filing for divorce out of nowhere, relationships turned sexless, spouses plotting murder...who knows. thing is you can't come to terms with thinking that perfect scenario you envisioned would indeed be perfect because you had worked out all the details in your mind.
