It's wild realizing most people's public persona is not who they really are

From your coworkers, people you encounter out in public, even your family and friends

It includes you as well

The public personas people put out to the world are not really who they are

Sometimes those public personas slip and the real person behind it is revealed

The highly successful multimillionaire professional who is found to have a massive drinking or drug problem

The pious politician or religious leader who is found to be cheating on their spouse

The success life coach or guru who is found to be a scammer

The friend or family member who you thought you could trust who betrays you or is secretly envious of you and cheers to themself whenever you have a setback

The list goes on, and it includes your own fake persona that you use to cope and get by in society

When in reality you may actually be petty, vindictive, dishonest, jealous, hateful, racist, and so on...but you can never let anyone know

Because if we expressed our genuine persona truthfully 100% of the time we wouldn't last long with how society is structured

So we must all, to a degree, play the game and put a fake version of ourselves out into the world to survive

And that is where the angst, anxiety, and even depression you may feel is at least partly coming from

The realization, even if it's subconscious, that your public persona is not who you really are and how you're perpetually putting on an act

Most people will never know who they truly are.
