Maybe if you're 19 and living in your car and need a little cash on the side

edit:
Beginner process servers in the United States typically earn between $25,000 and $44,000 annually, depending on the data source and location.

Hourly Wage: Entry-level servers generally make between $19 and $28.69 per hour.

Annual Salary: Salary.com reports an average entry-level salary of $44,026, while other sources estimate a range of $25,000 to $40,000 for those with less than one year of experience.

Per-Service Rate: Many independent beginners earn approximately $60 per service, with rates varying based on complexity, rush requirements, and number of attempts.

Not as a process server, but I used to send process servers out into the field at my last job. Basically I was the guy who gave them their paperwork to serve, plus the names, addresses, etc.

Honestly, most process servers earned pretty shitty wages and every year we had a couple get attacked (usually by some piece of shit defendant sicking their pit bull srs).

You do get to drive around in your own car and there's limited human interaction/corporate bullshit to deal with, but I wouldn't recommend it overall.

Become an air traffic controller. All you have to do is pass one test and boom, six figure salary.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

How is this a job?

Every jurisdiction I have file a law suit in has allowed me to serve my own documents via certified mail or the court platform, or the clerk of court will get the sheriffs department to do it for free.

Who is paying for something already paid for by taxes?

During legal disputes, in order to show everybody had fair notice of the claims and documents filed, the documents have to be legally “served” to the parties. It is just an administrative process to verify no party is attempting to communicate with the court behind any other parties back.

To avoid a conflict of interest and uphold the integrity of the system, the person bringing the claim typically cannot serve the paperwork directly. They need a neutral third party.

That's only for training. After training it's like $90k and maxes out at $170k without overtime in 10 years. Plus you get a pension after 20 years.

You need to get a high enough grade to qualify, not just pass

I took that test around 1990 ,I was painting planes at the time ,trying to move away from construction after framing houses for 6 years

Was going to go to school in teterboro to get my ap ,airframe/PowerPlant mechanic license

I passed ,but didnt qualify

Talk about a stressful test ,I still remember wanting to crumple the test up and walk out

The questions are timed ,they want to see if you can make correct decisions/answers quickly

I ultimately went back to construction and got in the union, as the cunt i was with who was going to pay the bills while I schooled bailed on me

Meh

Yeah, it's a tough test, but the money is good. My younger brother just joined the Air Force as an ATC.

IDK what you think you're gonna be able to do that will pay well that doesn't require tons of work. There's no such thing. Whatever you decide. It's gonna suck for years, and you'll probably have to take a pay cut.

Yes it’s common for law students to do “personal service” of court documents (originating applications such as statements of claim etc)

It was maybe $100 or $150 a piece back in the late 1990’s but you had to fill out a (pretty formulaic) affidavit effectively swearing to the circumstances that you served the document and how you established that you were serving it on the respondent hence they got law students to do it.

A hundred bucks was big money for a student in those days

If it was for a criminal matter the cops would serve the summons (for a summary offence)

Idk how it worked with indictments, I presume the suspect would be on remand

Sometimes we had to get pretty creative to establish ID
