Anyone else cringe when addictcels brag about how long they've been sober?

1 week without drinking!

1 month of not smoking!

1 year of not doing drugs!

Calm down, it's not the flex you think it is

No one is impressed by you not doing something that most people don't do anyway

Except maybe other addictcels

Yes, I agree with this.

In my opinion, "Addiction" isn't a real thing. It's just a coping mechanism to get through some type of hardship in life.

If someone needs a countdown to keep them sober, all power to them. But it's still kinda pathetic after a while. Personally, I think the true flex would be a former "addict" who can now partake casually in the item they used to have "problems" with and no longer have issues.

Yeah I get those posts on facebook all the time. Someone holding up a sign "294 days sober" and posting side by side pics of them at their worst during their addiction and a current pic of them now. So annoying.

I do cringe looking back at my college days. We would actually brag about how many beers we drank the night before. It's like, "So you're bragging about how little self control you have?"

I tell people how long I’ve been sober. Literally only for other people that are addicts. That’s the whole point. I personally don’t care about my sobriety time- I also spent 25 years drinking and doing drugs and could in the future. Who knows??
