Bitcoin brahs, are you aware on ETH yet? (the next big thing srs)

I can't make a a good topic because I cant type for chit. Ethereum looks like its going to be the next Bitcoin and perhaps some of us can get in on the ground floor.

BTC holders will jump to ETH because mining may become unprofitable due to the halved rewards. No miners = no transactions being processed, among other things.


Read up on "The DAO" also (it is basically a giant decentralized hedgefund, you send your ETH to it and you get tokens in return which you can invest in proposals):

interesting, I've been doing some sports betting with btc lately, I found a site that lets you bet in BTC, which you can then withdraw almost immediately, its so much better than having to use debit/credit/banks and going through all the verification's and waiting times. BTC buying/trading is definitely growing, I think there's a lot of opportunity.

Might get on with this. Need to research more obv. Cryptocurrencies wereextremelygood to me in the past.


edit: Still winds me up loads thinking about it, but a miscer about 3-4 years ago or so was telling me to put 100% savings into BTC and I was like JUST LOL AT TAKING ADVICE FROM A 19 YEAR OLD MISCER... Would've probably walked away with around 85M or so at the time if I had bought in when he told me to. fml..

Any good resources for getting started in bitcoin mining? How about those links above? I've got an old pc that I was thinking about installing linux on and using as a bitcoin miner but have no idea where to start. I don't want to get hosed. Will rep tenderly.

I'm not sure wtf 'next bitcoin' actually means. Bitcoin is expensive to use (in the UK anyway), volatile and generally lol because it is mostly used to buy drugs on the dark net markets and do other criminal stuff despite it's blockchain.

I never got into mining, just trading, so I could be wrong. At this point though, I'm pretty sure mining isn't even worth it. Takes way too long.

i got in in 2012 but sold too early
ktf on a small scale. pretty depressing to think about. total I missed out on < $600k.
There were some alt coins I passed up and lost big time on too. 2 coins in particular, that's a few more six figs
Bitcoin is dead now.

Highly mixed opinion man depends on adoption. Some say it'll either die hard or blow up and be worth 10k-50-100-$1m per coin. idk

dont bother. the return doesnt even cover the electricity spent, thats why everybody joins massive mining pools now, and they are using specialized hardware created just for mining.

As it stands, the difficulty for mining bitcoin right now is so high that it isverypower intensive to mine profitably. Plus, this summer, the reward for successfully mining a block will be cut in half. Just YouTube "bitcoin mining" videos from 2016 and you'll see the kind of equipment necessary. It's nuts.

I mined bitcoin years ago and then sold them all when they worth $1000+. Bitcoin is dead now. There are a lot's of alternatives to bitcoin, but there's never an exact copy or currently something that will be worth as much.

lmao just lmao. It is absolutely impossible to make money mining bitcoins these days if you're the one paying for electricity and even if you have free electricity it requires massive computing power to mine any real amount. Just no, buddy. LDAR.

i think this will take over bitcoin, as bitcoin has a lot of flaws in its technology

not only can ETH be used as a coin but you can create code on the blockchain for the whole network to execute. they are working on things like a decentralized poker client where the code would be publically viewable and where no possible govt or rogue employee can **** with it.

ETH cannot replace bitcoin. There are ATM and stuff for bitcoin which ETH lacks plus all the marketing and people behind Bitcoin are huge. You should visit btctalk, won't find many people interested in bitcoin on misc.

When I first bought into BTC, I did so with the intention of saving it for the long term. Anyone still holding onto their's or is the general consensus that it isn't going to go much higher than where it is now?

see what happens when this "halving" occurs on july 11th

if mining becomes unprofitable it will either crash, or the price will be forced upwards (i dont know how) to make it profitable for the miners again.

i use bittrex but i know there are better ones. i dont short term trade at all, just holding investment.

i have 5 figures invested but i can afford that and you should only gamble with what you can afford to lose.

bittrex has an easy way to invest in the dao as part of the site which makes it easy.

All my investment atm is now tied up in property.

That is exactly who I use lol. Takes them at most 2 days from withdrawing from coinbase. Another day for poker to approve my withdrawal. So all in all 3 days tops. Compared to 7 days for debiting back to your card or a month for a check. I'll stick to BTC withdrawals due to less of a paper trail. Plus with coinbase I can get myself a debit card too. I haven't yet though.

Made small gains timing the market. Sold my entire ETH stash when it was at 0.026btc a day or so ago. Was convinced the market would turn and allow me to buy back in at a small profit.

Little did I know ETH was like 'haha **** off you nonbeliever' and has been climbing like crazy. Now I'm stuck with btc and freaking the **** out. The gains I made doing small trades were really small. That's what I get for being a greedy ****. Honestly doubt ETH is ever going below 0.026 again.

BTC is an awful investment, awful for massive purchases.


All that bitcoin is good for are short term, small transactions that you want minimal record of. Past that your other option is a deep web wallet.

EDIT: Or Western Union/Moneygrams, which have transaction fees and leave and are more traceable.
