Yet again US gun laws bewilder me

This thread will either get closed or me banned, and yes I understand one British person's opinion on the internet isn't going to change 250 years of US attitudes to guns.

But still, how on earth was a gun even allowed into a concert? The very idea that this is possible in a developed country is terrifying. Will incidents like this ever change your attitudes to firearms?

No because someone getting murdered has absolutely no impact on whether or not I have the right to own a gun for protection.

The gun wasn't allowed into the concert, yet someone took it in there. It's almost like they didn't care about the rules.

Shut the fuk up OP. All these fuking Brits telling another country what they should and shouldn't do, then make fun of said country for telling other countries what they should and shouldn't do. Quit being a fuking hypocrite, you right mong.

Realize that guy was a psychopath and wanted to kill her no matter what. That was his end goal, the method doesn't matter.

*******.

If he concealed a gun, he'd easily conceal a knife.. even a long (and easily accessible) chef knife. Before you even attempt to say that it wouldn't be as a bad, she A)died from her wounds and B)Good luck getting stabbed in the heart/neck/lung/organs and surviving. The survival rate of a knife attack is on par with gunshot wounds.

Recognize what, that our violent crime levels have been steadily declining for decades as gun ownership has simultaneously exploded? We are fine, stop listening to liberal media.

So a gun and a knife are equivalent weapons in terms of how dangerous they are?
They can attack, so that surely means they can protect right ? Why don't you have a knife cabinet then, to protect yourself from that murderer who's out to get your family?

You don't need a gun, knives are just as deadly. This is your argument. Stick with it if you want I guess, but it's a pretty chit one.

Yeah OP, because criminals follow laws. With our basically open southern border, guns will still be smuggled into the USA regardless. That's ok though, I'm sure criminals will hand them in accordingly and not shoot someone.

It's almost as if murderers don't follow the law, weird huh?

Shirley they will follow the law that bans guns though, that will be the one law they decide to follow.

So who is going to confiscate all these guns, OP? You? Other men with guns? How will people be compensated? Money from the magical Marxist tree? Once guns have been banned will illegal immigration not bring any more in? What about the men with guns who took the guns? Will they relinquish their guns? Who's going to make them?

Absolutely sterling thread, I mean you accurately referenced exactly what incident you were writing about, then you absolutely didn't make British people continue to look like cuckolds.

10/10 thread.

No, it's not a pretty chit one. You're so caught up in what killed her that you're not paying attention to who killed her.

I'd rather have a gun, and so would that guy, but that doesn't change the fact that if there weren't a gun in his hand there'd be something else that would have killed her. The bottom line is that he wanted her dead, and you seem to think that the gun was the final piece of the puzzle when, really, it was the weapon. Had there not been a gun in his hand, there'd be a knife. Have fun banning knives, too, since knives are nothing but sharpened metal. You gonna ban metal, as well? There goes our infrastructure, never mind the fact that he's a psycho and a criminal so he would have bought any weapon he wanted illegally.

You're not smart, and you're not clever. You say 'ban weapons', when really you mean 'ban violent criminals and psychopaths'. The only way to do that is to kill them off, and I plan to use a gun if I'm ever at the misfortune of being in that situation.

How can you be this potato?

The advantage of a gun is that you can avoid having to physically touch your target. When you're assassinating someone, this is irrelevant, because you have the element of surprise on your side.

With literally hundreds of millions of firearms in circulation, no gun control laws are going to affect criminals abilities to acquired guns without overwhelmingly negatively affecting law abiding citizens.

I'll take the risk of getting robbed/shot with the ability to defend myself with equal force over getting robbed/shot and depending on someone else.

However, self defense isn't even the reason for the 2nd amendment. But as soon as someone brings up tyranny, "lol good luck against tanks and helicopters"

This.

Crime rates have gone down while ownership has gone up. Meanwhile in the UK they are experiencing a big increase in crime and I'm pretty sure the murder rate in the UK last year was higher than it was before their most recent ban.

The gangbangers never make news....but when a 7/10 gets murdered suddenly everyone all across the globe cares about our gun laws. Again, her death has absolutely zero impact on whether or not law abiding American citizens have the right to own a gun to protect themselves with. No man can call himself free if he doesn't have the right to protect himself. Just one more reason I live in the south and not the progressive sh!tholes where you can go to prison for killing someone trying to jeopardize your life, the life of a family member, or your property.

The fact of the matter is that Britain was using firearms in war over 100 years before the US was independent, and yet we as a country accept and recognise that, given the advances in firearms in the last century, citizens arming themselves to the teeth is going to create far more problems than it ever solves. Just my two cents guys.
