I'm considering living like it's the early to mid 1990's again. Is it feasible?

No cell phone, go back to a landline with an answering machine

Which means no texting either

So can only be contacted when at home, otherwise whoever calls can leave a message on the answering machine and wait until I decide to call them back

No email or internet, go back to paying bills by regular mail

Which also means having to show up in person to get things done like in the 1990s

For example, having to go to the DMV for registration renewals and possibly have to wait for a couple hours instead of getting it done online in a few minutes

Or having to show up to the bank during business hours instead of online banking

Minimize all other tech too, like no GPS, so have to use physical maps to find your way around if you're unfamiliar with where you're going and have to ask for directions if ever get lost

I'm single so it might be feasible especially since I keep to myself and rarely interact with others

Probably not possible anymore if you're employed or have lots of friends and family as it would be too difficult to manage if you gave up your cell phone, internet, email, etc

But it seems cools for the nostalgia factor and disconnecting (literally) from modern society

It will actually be pretty hard to not have the internet and a phone that can atleast text.

most bill paying is all done online.

most of society also assumes you have a smart phone. things like air port travel and all that get a lot harder. my mom still has a flip phone and i have to arrange all her ubers for her

there's obviously an endless amount of things people can say "but what about...." -- we are 100% addicts at this point. however, i think the point of purposely limiting yourself is that ultimately your mind is more free which could vastly makes up for all the benefits. it's about freedom and breaking away from the matrix.

We had emails and internet in the 90s.
Not sure about the logisics of paying bills back then i was too young.

I remember the old tape answering phones, would be funny to have one of them again.

No cell phone would be the hardest obv, but i can do without gps no problem.

Imagine using ICQ again to talk to yout buddies after school damn

It doesn't work breh. You can't turn back time or successfully live in the past like that. We live in a world of technology now.

Unless of course you want to go and live with some Amazonian tribe and live in a hut.

Cell phones were around since the 80s too, most people I know had one by the late 90s. SMS was early 90s too.

So theoretically he could use an old phone that barely gets a signal anywhere and is too big to comfortably fit in a pocket. Also that shit was expensive so he should probably set fire to a $20 bill every time he makes a spotty 2-minute call.
