Driving a clean well kept beater is GOATED.
Ive been thinking about this more and more. Car notes are outrageous. Just buy a well kept used car and avoid the nonsense.
Clean

Smooth ride
No car note

You must live in the south. Beaters in the north mean rust buckets that you use during the winter and save the nice days for your real car
A rust bucket makes me want to buy a new car with a note.
If the beater is well kept, I have no need for a new car.

I drive a $25k beater.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Finding a 15 year old Toyota in Arizona and road tripping it home is where it's at.

i remember back in the day (like 10+ years ago) you could buy a 4k car and drive it a very long time.
but yeah i'd say a reliable beater (preferably a yota or honda) is a nice tool...less worries about dents/dings/shopping carts.
my uncle is worth 10+ mil and he drives a 2006ish highlander he bought 6-7 years ago from his sister for about 4k (he rants about sister being "nuts" because they bought a new bmw).

I don't drive a beater but no car payment crew. Mine is paid off. It's a 2017 so nice enough. I plan on driving this thing into the ground. I never want to have a car payment again for the rest of my life srs. That shit is like a noose around your neck. Rent is already bad enough.

I hear that causes the underbody to rust out so it’s not worth spending anything on a car that gets driven in the winter
I spent a bit of time in VA but it didn’t snow heavily that year
Worst is that the salt corrodes the wheel nuts, was fucking terrible trying to change a tire on the roadside in Moscow

I don't ever want to drive a "beater" again. I'm going to drive cars that are 4-7 years old for the rest of my life.
