Contributing nothing to society
Realizing the juice isn't worth the squeeze anymore and no longer shamed by disregarding the things society has told them they should do as a "real man"

I am very content eating my $1.99 frozen dinner while watching sports clips on youtube or going over work stuff. I'd have to have mental problems to get dressed up, cook a meal, then sit at a table all sad like my entire family just bailed on me for eating dinner together.

Back in the days, a man could work a factory job and provide for the entire family. No need for college debt. Everything was cheaper and lasted longer, now things break. Wife didn't have to work and could care for the kids. And no, houses haven't gotten bigger. Those same 1950 'starter' houses are $500k now.
With the addition of smartphones and dating apps, women have more options than ever. Women only used to date her high-school sweetheart or coworker. Now she has hundreds of options in her city.

I go mentally back and forth on it all. The big problem is aging and dying. The prospect of dying relatively soon makes you more receptive of wanting to have the full human experience, including love, marriage and procreation. Imagine you find out today that you have only 10 years to live. Would you still opt out? I expect to still have 40-60 years to live, being very optimistic, and even that is a crushing realization and I feel super stressed out about it
