Your training routine is pretty impressive, bet it's practical too. How many cubic feet of Tennessee dirt can you shift in half an hour? Say at the side of Route 64 back in the winter of 2018?

Enough to cover a body?

Squat/overhead press/deadlift for me and my son today.

He had a really good morning after getting bit of R&R over the weekend. He's been running with the cross-country team on Monday and Wednesday evenings and that really fouls him up if we lift the day after. It was good to see him lift after taking Sunday as a rest day.

Well we know he's not a chode. Because if he were, you'd already have him in your mouth.

I’ve joked about it in thread titles before, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually measured them. 😂

But I just did, and my upper thigh is about 24 inches. And my calves are somewhere between 15.5 and 16 (almost identical to my arms by the way).

Legs was yesterday and today is back , then not one but 2 rest days , as I’m old AF .
Leg strength is not improving much , but last year they didn’t either , and all of the sudden they just got stronger. I’m actually happy squatting 135 for reps at this point though . I believe my hack squat/ leg press machine is actually detrimental to my knees, so I’m going to use it sparingly.
Even tried your reverse squat on my machine and it didn’t work at all lol

I've been getting up a little earlier in the morning to do a 30 min walk before work. So did that then on lunch did bi's, back and quads. Alternating DB curls, DB rows and box squats.

It took a ton of experimentation for me to find the right foot placement, angle(s), and direction for my hip descent/drive to get those hack squat variants right. Somebody on Instagram asked me about that one time too, and I gave him some brief directions, but it didn’t work out for him either.

I feel like if I could coach somebody in person on it over a few sessions, we could figure it out. But it’s just a lot of experimentation.

What do you mean is it real? You know you’re allowed to do anything you want right? 😂

:35 mark shows you what my legs looked like last time I took pictures of them a couple of months ago.

When I see squats I think neutral spine, heels planted, lowered back arch no butt wink, so it does look fucked up, locking knees scares me the most

It looks dangerous as fuck

If my goal had anything to do with lifting maximum weight, that’s what I would be doing.

In a powerlifting contest, I’ve squatted 560 raw the way you describe (also 556, 550, 535, and 500 in powerlifting contests).

But that was 12+ years ago. And lifting maximum weight hasn’t been part of my goals for years.

My current goal includes putting maximum tension on the muscle and growing it.

The types of squats that I perform reflect that goal.

Man you’re making me want to invest in a home gym even more, OP.

I wait after work until 7:30-8pm sometimes for the gym to clear out but Mondays are so packed even this late I can’t get into a rhythm. All I wanted to do was deadlifts tonight but nah, people hogging the space.

I was just telling my wife today - I can’t even imagine going back to a commercial gym and having to share equipment, etc.

I agree , someone watching and coaching would make a world of difference

I used to hate waiting for dumbbells and benches , not to mention you could never get a treadmill or the elliptical after 4:30 pm .

Ya I agree . One time another member that frequented the same commercial gym pointed out some blood on the lat bar. Faurk , that’s all I need is the hiv now .
And I don’t know if I have a chitty immune system, but I used to get deathly sick a few times a year , and it always involved a fever .
Obviously when there’s a few hundred people after 5 o’clock you’re susceptible to catching an airborne pathogen.
Strangely, I never had a cold or flu for 9 straight years after quitting the gym . I only got sick when a friend came over to visit when I was installing my new squat racks.
Tells me he’s feeling like chit , and gives it to me . Like thanks for coming over for a visit when you’re feeling ill lol
