Why cant we do away with weddings? They're so fckin gay...

Engagement party, Bachelorette party, bridal shower, get married at a courthouse with "real friends" , then another wedding , then a seperate ceremony, then a reception...

Then they post about it on social media for years, etc.


Its so fucking gay. Everything about weddings suck. I hate them.

Got invited to one this coming weekend and it was a completely over the top spectacle that probably cost the families a few hundred grand. All for a party where the people are going to have a 60% liklihood of divorce within 10 years. Such a stupid waste of money.

The way they are performed is ridiculous. My wife and I said our vows in front of friends/family outdoors at the venue. Then the rest of the time was spent socializing. Our wedding took about 5 minutes and we had about 3 hours of socializing with friends and family. Spent 15K for the venue which included DJ and someone to officiate, food and alcohol. It was 15K because we had 200 people. If you don't have large friends/family groups you can do it a lot cheaper.

The whole process of a batchelor/batchelorette party (typically engaging in degeneracy before commitment). Having a ritual of walking up with groomsmen/bridesmades. Saying vows then having a procession out the church. Doing a reception and having a massive party. Then going on a honeymoon. Etc. Is designed to milk Americans out of their money. You're talking about a multi billion dollar industry here.



From what I'm seen most 'small' weddings run about 40-50k these days. A nicer/larger wedding will run 80-100k. Roughly about 50% end in divorce. MOST people remarry. And not uncommon to spend the same money all over again on round 2. Its a giant scam.

Totally understand doing a ceremony because it's official and a major step however, for the most part, I agree.

Get your parents, grandparents, those actually close family, maybe a few close friends, do a little ceremony and then maybe go out to eat together or something.

Same thing about funerals. There is no need for some extravagant event that cost tons of money.

In my city, it is absolutely absurd the amount the Hispanic population spend on parties and celebrations. Renting out ballrooms, etc. Yet they are mostly all on govt assistance.
