People get upset because the reply feels like it came from a machine instead of the person they were actually trying to reach. Even when the content is technically right, it can feel too polished, too neutral, or too carefully managed, which makes the other person think the sender is avoiding the real emotional work. A human message usually has some mess in it: directness, personality, irritation, regret, humor, awkwardness, or whatever the situation calls for. A ChatGPT-style response can strip that out and replace it with language that sounds professional but detached. The problem is not using help to organize your thoughts. The problem is sending something that does not sound like you, because then the other person feels like they got a drafted statement instead of an actual response.
