I'm going to read a book and try to unrot my brain

Just printed this and about to attempt to read it from cover to cover. My brain has been rotting from too much screen time. Ironmanlet inspired me to do it, he said we must force ourselves to deal with the boredom of sitting down and reading a book.

I was able to read 50 pages today but it took me like 4 hours in 2 blocks of 2 hours each. I wonder if I can keep up at least one 2 hour block every day over the next month.

Learned a few interesting factoids.

50 pages is a good start man.

I would recommend doing other activities to practice developing your attention span if you have the time, like meditating. It will directly translate to be able to dedicate more attention to reading.

I bought the new critical edition of Mein Kampf for my dad's birthday a few months ago. Out of curiosity I read the intro and first chapters and it was like crack. Never read a book that was so captivating and easy to read. But every time I get into white power books I start resenting my black wife, so I decided to stay clear of it. Ded fkn srs.

Thank you sensei. Meditation? I always thought that was just spacing out and thinking about nothing?

It is consciously watching your brain think about nothing.

You are not the thinker, you are the observer. When you mediate, focus on this perspective. You will get lost in thoughts, just as when you are reading. Once you do, just gracefully disassociate back to the observer. Again and again.

Rereading the same paragraph five times in a row is acceptable if needed.

Reading out loud also helps for advanced brain rot. I do that until my voice gets tired. I read in Bible commentaries that the old wise men used to read out loud a lot.

Any topic that interests you is OK

Also yes I was serious. Reading mine kampf upsets me because it's the bitter truth. Then my wife picks up on it and asks me what's wrong and I then rant about the demise of the continent, the jews and the blacks, and the tragedy that I didn't marry in my own race. She then gets sad and says it's the truth and very sad. She then cries on the inside.

Never heard of that before, but it instantly makes sense to me.

50 pages is a lot and you'll burn yourself out unless you like the material. Start with reading 30 mins a day or 10-20 pages and eventually you won't have to look at the clock.

I tried to get back into it by reading all the self-help/non-fiction type books but never stuck cause they were boring. Decided to say fuck it and I read novels now with some nonfiction if its something I want to or need to learn more about.

Currently reading more of an adult novel called "a little life" but I think it would be cool to read something like Hardy Boys or Hatchet again one of these days.

Ordered a bunch of books from my childhood not too long ago cause I'm genuinely scared that one day the government will censor those too.
Do not think that what is hard for you to master is humanly impossible; and if it is humanly possible, consider it to be within your reach.

I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to manage studying 15-20 hours a week for 10 years straight. Seems unlikely. But I want to get a masters in theology so the fulltime program is 5 years (bachelor's plus master's) but for people who have a career you can do a remote program which takes 10 years. I have a bit over a month to figure out it I'm going to do it. The school accepted already. Seems kinda insane but could be satisfying to the million questions I have about theology and to feel superior to others in discussions about the Bible on reddit.
