Didn't realize the value of a dollar till I started working

I work full time doing construction. 7 and a half grueling hours on your feet doing hard labor. You can't even sit once during those breaks. Only time you get to sit down is during your 30 min lunch break. The pay is 16 an hour but I come home miserable and depressed. My back aching and my body getting torn into pieces day by day. Before I used to spend money while living with my parents on dumb things while not working. I never realized how hard my parents worked to provide for the family.

This is bs and lies made by the misc. The only type of people that get these type of jobs are code monkeys that finish their tasks fast but people who say they get paid to misc are completely bsing. They are out of shape, depressed and miserable most of the time. They hate their jobs also.

I remember when I was working in a lumberyard all day in the miserable heat for minimum wage

now I just shake and pour alcohol and I get paid like 4x the amount

good to realize the value of the money at a young age makes me not take anything for granted

That's pretty much me right now since i'm in construction except I don't get paid min wage. I get full benefits and a union which is good but it's hard work. But yeah man I realize I can't do this forever and need to find something that would make me happy doing it and it makes enough for a living.

Never pass up an opportunity to better yourself.

While you're doing this grueling manual labor, get your ass in school so you can get gainful employment without wrecking your body. Might take a few years, but anything worthwhile is worth doing. And no, that doesn't mean get your communication/liberal arts degree with student loans like half the country does.

Tfw you purchase something trivial, like a dinner and beer at a decent restaurant, and can't believe you have to trade 5 hours of your time just for that meal if you earn minimum wage.

You can either make excuses or find time, energy, and money to get ahead.

Do what it takes. If changing the job to something less stressful is what it takes, then do it.

i know that feeling man lol. I went out to a restaurant last night and spend 72 dollars. IN my head i'm like wow.. about 6 hours of hard manual labor in the summer just for that? not worth it!

I'm already shredded man thanks to this job. It's impossible not to be if you're in construction unless you eat way too much. My co workers some of them have the bulky physique because for lunch they eat like half a pie of pizza + soda and other candy. They're all naturally strong and the ones that go to the gym have impressive lifts.

lol *******. I am one of those people and am not even a code monkey. Literally sit in an office handing off issues to our developers telling them to fix it. Made 55k last year and have an offer with a new company to start me out at 62k, just waiting on my start date. I started off in construction and landscaping from 18-20. By 21 I finally got an office job and my worst day in an office is literally 500X better than my best day in the hot sun doing manual labor with perverted alcoholics. Negged fukker.
