Your job is an imaginary concept to begin with. It is not something, it is something you do. The atom does not stop existing, the energy is transferred, and a conversation is not a thing that exists, it is an occurrence, like your current carnation, which is not you.

As I said, it's wordplay. I reject the claim that my job is an "imaginary concept." A job is a real social and economic role with tangible consequences just like atoms have real measurable effects. My sabre-tooth elephant I drew as a child is closer to an "imaginary concept".

By your logic, almost nothing qualifies as "real". That's not profound. It's just redefining terms to make normal concepts sound illusory. It's classic New Age sleight-of-hand: take a legitimate hard question and dissolve it with semantics instead of answering it. If that comforts you, fine.

An idea's age has no bearing on its truth. If anything, history shows most old ideas eventually get replaced by better ones.
