This is true, but I took the thread as op questioning why people choose to get married, rather than those who had no choice to be legally bound.

The muscles i value most are the ones directly surrounding the spine, the hips, the scapula, the femur and the tibia... in that order.

Really good points here.

I would love to be married myself if the societal conditions were right, but right now things don't look too good.

I think marriages fail because men nor women go into them with realistic expectations of long term human behavior.

It'll be interesting to see how my views and the worlds views change over the next 5-10 years.

Just got married about 2 months ago OP. What do I get out of it. I got a cosigner on a VA loan. She bought me a car. I wanna have kids and in a few years she'll give me some of those and also raise them for me.

I'm not gonna mention sex or chores because I have always had women around for that, marriage or not.

It seems something has made some of you here bitter.

So this thing called life, when you reach adulthood....for you that may take more years than others. You will find that your parents no longer make choices for you (we hope for your sake this is true timmy).

With these choices comes your own opinions, they may not reflect everyone's opinion but thats the joy of doing whatever the fuk you wanna do.

Marriage is one of those things, you can either get married or not. Simple as that. There are pro's, there are con's......but there are pro's and con's to everything right? She told you if you had just cleaned your room and did the dishes you would have goten it today.....now you have to wait after your grounded and do it all over.

It isn't bitterness....It is getting financially boned. If divorce laws weren't so stupid, I would have zero issue getting married.

Isnt that at all man. Marriage adds a big financial component over something the man doesnt have too much control over aka the woman's loyalty.

Ya know... me and my gf of two years just broke up bc she was pressuring me into marriage. She basically told me "either put a ring on it or I'm leaving", well,we obviously know how that ended.
Marriage is a funny thing to females, me and this girl had 10/10 chemistry, we had tons of fun, went on amazing vacations, had awesome sex, etc etc. A lot of people just can't be happy unless they are moving towards marriage, it doesn't make sense to me but it is what it is.
I believe that marriage should be a forever thing, only worth doing one time and with the right person, I am not "anti marriage" by any means but I believe a piece of paper doesn't validate your love for the other person and anything worth doing like that is worth waiting for to make sure it's right.
So, I'm not saying there are zero benefits to marriage and I think marriage is great but I think that you should be with that person for 5-6 years (or longer) before you get married
