If you want to make it in Hollyweird you'll have to submit to the casting couch. The casting couch exists for both men and women and the powerful people you'll have to sleep with are men.

holy **** are you me?
i just turned 26 years old
spent the past 20 years in GA
traveled to 7 cities in the past 8 months to see where i really want to be in life
i've picked LA/SoCal

as for what you're wanting to do... it's very cut throat. you either make it, or you don't. having small roles won't get you far. you'll def have to do other things on the side, like a full time job even. you won't be able to survive on your own, within city limits of LA, unless you just have a **** load of money already stored away.

Yeah. One of them got an appearance on the Ellen show modeling underwear for a segment. He thought it would be his big break. Instead, it just increased the flood of interest from porn producers.

OP

ur 26, what u are experiencing is the classic "quarter-life-crisis", srs. Some men starts to get desperate to find a wife and get kids. Some men experience semi de-personalization. Some men, like you gets a kick in the face of reality when they understand that time flies by.

If you are single, have saved up some money, then go and try at least. You have only this life and this time right now.

But I would have managed an economic plan. Cause you are saving up to buy an apartment/house/property right?

Save up another batch of money, money that you can spend. Dont take it off your savings for future

Because you believe you might make it. You gotta be realistic. Only become an actor if its the only thing you feel like you want to do in life and you cant breathe doing anything else.

You gotta sacrifice and be prepared that its all for nothing.

Only then will you be ready, when you are ready to fail.

Im in the Screen Actors Guild bro, I know how it is. Ive been in the game.

Do you have something, as an artist, that you want to say to the world? What product do you bring to the industry?

Its a privilege not a job, they don't need you, nobody does. What is so vital about you, your look, you acting skill set that separates you from the MILLIONS who try to become actors every year and fail??? What makes you think you will win the lottery?

What exactly do you think you have to offer or makes you special?

- If it's something you want to do, then you need to go and do it, even if you end up not making it

- I've heard of actors living in their cars out there, which motivates you to be your best.

At the end of the day it's all about skills and luck.

- Have you ever done any theater work op?

- Most actors don't just become actors over night. And this is something many people don't understand. They start small, go to acting classes, take any role they can get. Make connects and move on up
- I'm sorry; I couldn't hear your complaints over the sound of all this freedom!

~ Merica

Don't do it bro. I walk the streets of Beverly Hills and Marina Del Rey everyday and they are filled with Chad and Chadette's. Unless you are willing to go the extra mile on the casting couch for some director don't expect success. Also competition for basic entry level jobs is also crazy.

TBH I don't really know what I want. I do feel like I could be successful in anything I put my mind to. But I also feel like I'm getting tugged in 10 different directions the way my mind works with different avenues to go in life. I have so many interests it's hard.

That's a good point though I wouldn't say that my feelings are that strong towards acting. Cause if they were I'd already be there. But you've been in the game so I got the hook up now? Jk but how did you like it? Any success?

Dude, have you ever even acted in a play or indie film? The established actors didn't just appear and be good (except the extreme, EXTREME tiny percentage that maybe got noticed from youtube (bieber) or a play on broadway or whatever the fuk). Most grew up acting in commercials and then got into bigger projects with their connections and MANY grew up in families that had established actors and industry insiders. Hollywood is a tight, closed sphere at the big name and bucks level. We're talking nepotism and connections from birth. Not to kill your dreams, but the odds are insanely against you and many others.

You're better off making your own projects and/or starring in indie films that will be in the festival circuit. A more realistic goal is to become those actors that get a few speaking roles in major films. Like for example a random nazi in a ww2 film that says a few lines or a few lines as a wall street broker in a business movie etc. Those require SAG membership and agent to represent you. If you want to ACT and try and grow your craft, indie films and making your own films is probably better.

Being an actor in an award winning indie film is probably the most realistic shot any wannabe actor without insider connections and nepotism advantages.

It's good to have dreams OP - it's also good to be realistic.

There are over 100,000 actors in LA.

There are only 15 - 20 "A-List" spots available at any time in LA.

So only 0.015% of actors "make it".

In comparison, the acceptance rate to Harvard is 5.2%.

You are over 100x more likely to get in to Harvard than to become a successful actor.

99.985% of people who try to do what you want to do end up waiting tables for the Hollywood elites or sucking dick on a backroom couch.

EE from LA checkin in on warm toasty roll of bread. But whatever:

What's your engineering background?

What is your experience with acting other than "wanting to try it out"? Are you actually a talented and practiced actor? Why did you not pursue acting instead of a technical degree?
