Once i settle down at a unit i'm going to look into schooling as well as finding avenues to invest money in. I need to check my LES/mypay ****. Where would you recommend I start as far as looking into investing my money?
Roth TSP.

I am putting up 19% of my base bay. You need to do a calculated finance balance and determine what percent you can comfortably put in to the TSP. In addition to college, you need to start that right now. Just log on to your mypay, and start with 5% or something. Put it all into the 'C' fund. I can go into detail why if you wish, but just allocate all of your TSP in the C fund.

These are things you literally just have to do, like right now. People waste these opportunities so much.

I completey forgot about that. If i remember correctly tsp is only useful if you plan on retirement though. If you invest in it and decide to leave early what happens ? Do you lose some of it ?

you do not lose it. I contributed when I was enlisted. After my first six year contract was up (I honestly thought I was done with the military at the time), I just withdrew it all. It was nice because I had a nice nest egg to start what I thought was my civilian life, including paying off my car so no car payment. Most financial advisors would suggest that if you get out, you should not cash out, just leave it in and let it build interest. You can roll it over to a civilian account and keep contributing as well.

It is your money man. The only way you lose money is if the market goes down like any investment.

yup. the other branches send their guys to army airborne school. the only air school that the Navy has is for HALO jumps

lol, I saw that, but those are just vehicles. no injuries.

That being said, the last unit to jump from my aircraft sent 100% of the jumpers off target. (t-11, so its steering ability is extremely limited). One made it to a safe area. the rest landed in trees. As OP is surely learning, that is something they practice for. One guy broke his back and one got stuck about 70 feet in the air hanging on his chut from the tree.

you could say, there was blood on the risers...

2003-2009.

yup, me and clint were there in 2007. I was at compound 7 when compound 8 got lit up killing a total of nine and injuring over 60 more. the rocket landed like 100 feet away.

I remember talking to clint later on. He knew it landed somewhere by me, switched to my radio freq and tried to see if I was okay. I was the compound controller so I was talking on the radio. Once he heard me sending the reports he knew I was good.

Gamelink . Its this place where you can rent computers, xbox 360s , ect for x amount of hours. I never went. When i was at jump school my main focus was getting back into shape and getting my strenght back at the gym. Imo it was a waste of money. Plus if OP has a opt 40 id encourage him to spend as much time as he can for pt. to the op : sucks to hear about your knee. If its not too bad you should be ok with airborne as long as you dont land like chit. I know how it feels . I ****ed my ankle up on my second jump and was a hold over for a long time before i was cleared. Then i spent 2 months at HHC( due to being dropped). I was at benning for almost 8 1/2 months. Smh.

My buddy was in our charlie tower and saw the round but thought it was a bird until it hit.

Were you the cp that was mostly tents that those tards burned down?

Yeah man, it is weird you and him did not meet there. That was his home until he went to the hasties. I am sure they burnt their chit down more than once, but the compound I remember doing it when I was there was compound 2. should have been right across the mile from either 12 or 11.

I was at the other end.

Just remember not to stiff leg any jumps. Had a guy in tech school with me who made it to jump school in the Combat Control pipeline. His last jump, he stiff legged it and blew out both knees. Got out, got fat, went air national guard, became a cop. The military version of LDAR.

Lol my osut was 4 months thats why i was there so long but even so 4.5 months for airborne and just to be dropped on top of that was indeed a goof. My rear landings sucked. They got better though. And my first cycle was the last cycle of the year so we had a month where there were no students at all including HBL. But looking back i dont regret going. Jumping out the plane was pretty cool.

Jumping out the play was pretty cool.
glad you had some fun, and still, even with being dropped it is good training. Most of the concepts I have explored in military training are designed to focus on that one thing you are learning, but as I have grown realize they can apply to many aspects of our lives.

It was 2! Got damn son. I remember passing by it at post change in the duece thinking "we better not get recalled for this chit." I was 4 the whole time we had the SHU next to us. That's why I never met Clint I was never at 12 I was at 4. In 2012 when I met Clint for some reason I remembered it as being 12. Craziness. Probably passed by you a few times. I was the controller at 4 when 600 icos didn't show up and vigilance toc got hit and that civilian contractor got hit on the contonement side. Were you there when the brits finally shot back after that idf and it was the greatest thing ever? You ever do any happy bus convoys/conairs? Are you ready to do our war crimes tribunal when the ******* overlords take over?
