It's not because it's hard. It's about the liability, and the tediousness. I pay my landscaper about $5k a year, that's not all that much, and it's better than being out in the sun sweating like a peasant.

I watched it happen at like 1am on Australian TV when I was waiting for a Seinfeld rerun to come on and thought "Great, there goes TV for the next month - all we'll see is rolling newscasts of this shit". I wasn't wrong - also happened one afternoon during a family game of Monopoly when Princess Di got whacked for having a Muslim kid inside her. Suddenly game over so the parents could watch that and for weeks after that's all we saw. At least when 9/11 happened cable TV was a thing and you didn't have a choice of 4 channels broadcasting the same shit 24/7.
