Depending on how much you make you could live a really poor, boring life for a year and have it all paid off. It's definitely doable and worth it. You'll feel so good about that last payment when that day comes, srs.

I didn't even think such a thing was possible, unless maybe there's some sort of provision where you can offer the IRS that you pay it. But that seems incredibly dumb.

Normally, debt owed by the deceased is paid for by their estate. If the estate can't pay it, it doesn't just get transferred to a relative.

If someone has $100K in high interest debt then I don't give a chit if they live in their car, they should be driving around in a chitbox that gets great gas mileage. 4k isn't tooo bad but not ideal. Get that paid off first, 28k student loans is very acceptable IMO.

I put all my expenses on my CC and pay it off monthly. Sometimes it goes a bit over budget due to random expenses, family trip back home to see grandfather as his health is deteriorating, etc. So I'd say 2-3 times per year I pay interest, but that interest is normally like $100/year or about 30-40$/month. My cash back alone is already approaching $400 this year. I normally put about $2k/month on it and pay it off.

My student loans are high, ~$50k. It was very much worth it though. I went from making $30k/year retail to much, much, much higher than that. Along with upward mobility and demanding market for my skillset.
