By the same token, the victim also has a right to defend himself. Refusing to show I.D. wasn't a valid excuse for this psychopath to rip a teenager from his car and electrocute him. Of course, the moronic kid could've handled this situation much better. If he had just produced I.D. like the cop legally requested, he would probably still be alive today. Both parties are retards, but I sympathize with the teenager more than the freak on a power trip. Sincerely hope he dies on the job. Not even kidding. He took a young man away from his family just to inflate his own ego. Sickening tyrant.

i understand that you shot him once or maybe twice, but 7 times (6 deadly bullets) in close range. That cop sure wanted a kill to his record. Also lol at getting beaten up by a 17 years old boy and decides to kill him.

"Sgt. Frost's first attempted gunshot failed. The handgun jammed and the cartridge
failed to fire. While he rolled slightly to his side and used both hands to clear the
gun (ejecting the unfired cartridge), Sgt. Frost was still being hit on his head. Sgt.
Frost then turned the gun toward Deven and fired seven times in rapid succession.
Deven was shot seven times, as summarized in the Autopsy section, below."

Deven had seven gunshot entrance wounds on his body, and two exit wounds (one in
his back, one in his arm). Holes in Deven's t-shirt corresponded with injuries to his
body. The autopsy report chronicled each of the following injuries, but does not
specify in which order they occurred:

Head — One bullet entered Deven's upper right front scalp into his right
cerebrum and cerebellum, causing multiple skull fractures. This bullet did
not exit the body. The main mass of a jacketed bullet was found in back of the
neck, with fragments in the right forehead and brain. The trajectory was
from the right-to-left, from the front-to-back, and downward. The shot
occurred at close, near-contact range, as evidenced by soot on the skin. No
muzzle imprint was noted. The medical examiner has advised that the
injuries caused by this wound would have been fatal.

Right Chest— One bullet entered Deven's front upper right chest, high on
his chest and below the collar bone. It traveled into his right lung, right
hemidiaphragm, liver, right kidney, and back. It did not exit the body. A
deformed jacketed bullet was found in his right lower back. The trajectory
was minimally right-to-left, front-to-back, and steeply downward. The shot
occurred at an intermediate range; gunpowder stippling was found.
An "intermediate" firing range means that the shot was fired close enough
that some of the gun powder stippling (particles) and gasses are embedded in
the clothing or skin. Exact distances are not known, but can be up to several
feet away depending on the firearm and ammunition used, and
environmental factors. An intermediate range is a distance farther away than
a " contact" firing where a gun muzzle is touching or almost touching the skin.

Epigastrium (upper midline of the belly) — One bullet entered Deven's
abdomen' s epigastric (upper central belly) region, and traveled into the liver,
eso****us as it meets the stomach, descending aorta, 11th thoracic vertebrae,
and mid- to lower-left back. This bullet did not exit the body. A partly
deformed jacketed bullet was found in his mid- to lower-left back. This shot
occurred from an intermediate range; gunpowder stippling was found.

Left Axilla (arm pit) — One bullet entered Deven' s left arm pit, and traveled
to his left back, fracturing his left 5th rib, and causing a left lung contusion.
This bullet did not exit the body. It was recovered from his upper left back.
The trajectory was left-to-right, and slightly front-to-back. It was fired from
an intermediate range; soot and gunpowder stippling were found.

Lateral left lower chest — One bullet entered Deven's left lower chest
located toward the flank and bottom of the rib cage, and traveled to the base
of his left lung, left hemidiaphragm, spleen, left kidney, left 12th ribs, and
back tissues. This bullet exited through his lower left back.6 The trajectory
was left-to-right, front-to-back, and slightly downward. It was fired from an
intermediate range; gunpowder stippling was found.

Right wrist — One bullet entered Deven's right wrist through the top,
outside portion of the wrist near the wrist knob. It traveled into the right
ulna and radius (the inside, front of the wrist). This bullet did not exit the
body. It was recovered from the anterior lateral right forearm. The trajectory
was left-to-right, outside back to upward. It was fired from an intermediate
range; gunpowder stippling was found. The medical examiner advised that
this bullet path fractured the wrist bones and effectively disabled the right
hand.

Right forearm— One bullet entered Deven's right forearm through the midfront
forearm. It grazed the right ulna near the elbow. The bulk of the bullet
exited at the elbow, but a fragment was recovered from tissue in the region.
The trajectory was right-to-left, anterior-to-posterior, and upward (distal to
proximal). It was fired from an intermediate range; gunpowder stippling was
found

The kid's repeated refusal was a valid cause for an arrest. He did not cooperate with the arrest. Using some degree of non-lethal force to remove him from the car and arrest him was justified. I have no idea if that department and the state of Michigan sanction the use of a taser - as opposed to other non-lethal force - there, but I'm assuming they do.

The kid was just pissed. The officer was, as you say, a tyrant on a power trip to inflate his own ego. That doesn't mean it was illegal.

The last thing a smart person wants to do is give a tyrant on a power trip any excuse to do something terrible that they are legally permitted to do. They will do it. The kid was being a clueless teenager and did not analyze the situation well. At one point, he screams "you can't do that". Well, he can and he did. Too late now.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Both sides are retarded and the cop should lose his job for not being able to de-escalate the situation without using lethal force. If he can't handle that situation he's not fit to be a cop.

LOL can't wait for you to have your first encounter with a gentleman of the law.

I am always extremely polite to law enforcement and the treatment I get in response is completely dependent on how much of a power hungry dick the cop is and how they're feeling that day.

You have the right to use proportional force. If Joe Average shoots a 17 year old kid during a fist fight he's going to jail unless there's a huge disparity in size. End of story.

Unfortunate situation..................Kid is a retard, sounded entitled as ****. Where did he learn that from? Parents...

Resisted throughout the whole thing.................Officer you cannot do that...as in officer you can't arrest me....uh yes he can...

Judging by the pics of the cop he had every right to shoot that kid.

This kid pretty much did every single thing that he shouldn't be doing throughout the whole ordeal.

If it could be shown that he was lying about his high-beams, I'd agree 100%.

If he was telling the truth? He was an ass about it, but he did give the kid numerous opportunities to cooperate before he attempting to forcibly arrest him. Refusing to cooperate with a lawful order ends in arrest. Resisting arrest ends in the use of force. Responding with an escalating level of force results in being met with a higher level of the continuum of force. The kid was wrong.

Arrests are not a "let's see who wins" pissing-contest situation. You will be arrested. Force will be used if you resist. More officers and more force will be applied to the situation until you are arrested. You do not have a right to "defend" yourself against a lawful arrest. You are obliged by law to permit yourself to be arrested.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

I suppose.

I have the luxury to be associated with 3 local departments so I'm not sure I run into someone I didn't know.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. If you are stopped by a cop, and he asks you for a drivers lic, insurance, registration, you hand it over whether or not you committed a moving violation.

Had the kid been walking, it depends on state law whether you have to hand over ID. Arizona has a stop and identify law, but you don't have to show or have ID unless it's an investigation in crime or you are suspected in a crime in which the officer has to tell you.

Kid should have shown ID, and drive away.

Last, you never win a fight with police on the street. Put your ego away and take it to court if so inclined.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.

This is where the teen started to goof. Yes, a police officer on the streets CANNOT force you to provide proof of identity.

However if you are operating a motor vehicle you are required to show proof of identity by law. Fukken lmao @ that teen.

However the officer shouldn't have shot the unarmed teen to death.

If the teen was in fact a dyel, then that officer is a pussy *******. He has a baton, tazer, etc. the teen was unarmed. How the hell did he not restrain the teen after tazing him successfully?

1) act like an entitled/thuglife/dyel cocky fratboi *******
2) ignore the cop's commands (regardless as to if you perceive them to be right OR wrong)

Strong laying down and rotting and giving up your constitutional rights.

Barring states that have stop and frisk laws (like NY, since idk the specifics of those laws):

If a cop stops you on the street and asks for ID you should not have to give them your ID. By law they cannot force you to.
If a cop wants you to stop recording, typically the city police codes prohibit the officer from disrupting civilian recording in any way.
If a cop wants you to hand over your phone or any recording device, etc. and wants to see more video than legally allowed, you are well within your right to refuse.

https://np.reddit.com/r/legaladvice/...ent_as_did_my/

Just recently a guy was recording on his dash cam and caught footage of an accident. The officer wanted to see the dashcam video and requested the whole feed (Rather than just the relevant part). The guy could've refused as this was an unreasonable search and seizure and the officer would've needed a warrant. In this case however, the man did not know his rights and gave the officer his whole cam and the officer issued him 14 tickets for traffic violations / crimes he committed that were not relevant to the video. He waived his 5th amendment rights voluntarily when he ignorantly gave the cop the footage.

Now I'm not for the fuk the police attitude. And I definitely dont defend the "dindu nuffins" that get killed by police (of any race).

However as an American citizen you have rights and it's amazing that the same people that claim they'd die for their freedom would gladly give up their consitutional rights and LDAR for police officers.

Fukking bullchit. This chit only continues to grow since people do not give a flying fuk about their personal liberties.

It's almost as bad as the *******s who support NSA/FBI spying / banning encryption because "I have nothing to hide."

No matter who is bigger or stronger or has more training, judging by the pics of that cop, the kid somehow got the upper hand...any of those blows to his face had potential to cause permanent damage or death. Who knows if he reached for his gun too or not, point is cop feared for his life and shot the kid...end of story. ...You can argue if it was too much force or not but its hard to argue that this kid did everything in his power to take it to that point and paid the price.

Correct - he does have a right to defend himself. However, the kid was pulled over for violating 257.700 Michigan Code.

When asked to show ID since he broke the law again and is being investigated, he refused. He is resisting arrest and not obeying a lawful order, violation of 257.602.

Now, the cop shouldn't have let it get out of control like this. But the kid clearly initiated the aggression and escalated the situation.

I get tired of people filming themselves breaking the law and expecting everyone to back them. Sure there are times cops are bad and do things wrong, which is why there have been many internal investigations, cops sent to jail, fined, kicked off the force.

The judicial system is not perfect, it doesn't get the bad guy 100% of the time. But it's better than nothing.

Bottom line, sure maybe the cop shouldn't have pulled him over for it if he had is own brights on. Maybe the kid should have just given him his ID and gone on his way. But it didn't.

Seriously what don't people understand about this, there are risks to becoming a cop that they know about before signing up such as having to deal with incidents like this, if they weren't prepared to deal with these situations without shooting someone they should become fukking janitors.

They want all the perks and power of being a cop but are unwilling or able to deal with the hazards which go hand in hand with the perks...fukking pathetic, both them and the people that find this type of action justifiable.
This.

I'm not saying the cop was wrong or right. Nor am I trying to imply I'm some badass. But what is with these cops getting their assess kicked so bad they panic and shoot? Someone can be getting beaten so bad that lethal force is justified but damn.

Maybe they need more hand to hand training, mma?

Plus I'm tired of cops doing **** then getting angry at others for doing the same thing. The kid couldn't see while driving.

It is absurd that we live in a society where someone can legally shoot someone else that is "attacking" them with nothing but their fists...especially when they have pepper spray, tasers and batons etc.

That being said, I must have been raised in a different time and environment than kids today because I was always taught to do what the cops say or its your ass. With all of these incidents occurring you'd think that kids would know that these cops mean fukkin business but apparently not. Darwin wins again.

This pretty much sums it up.

Also, how the fuk does a 17 year old kid get tazed then jump up and start swinging? That doesn't make sense and the video cuts off before any fighting goes down.

Any half decent lawyer could take the post scuffle injuries and argue the police officer feared for his life. I'm actually surprised you take this stance having seen combat. I'm not proposing things couldn't have/shouldn't have played out way differently in this circumstance, but I am of the opinion that the shooting was more or less justified given the assault.

The officer apparently used his taser at such a close range that it didn't discharge properly. As a result, he was caught by surprise that the kid was not disabled. The kid jumped up enraged and came down on him from above, then began beating his head to the point that he claims he was losing consciousness and blinded by blood in his eyes.

It's actually a pretty understandable sequence of events, aside from the fact that the way they got there was imbecilic.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Is it illegal to flash your lights in Michigan? And the cop knew his lights were brighter since they were 'new'. So why would he proceed to pull everyone over that night? Cop was clearly on a power trip handled the entire situation terribly and the kid was being a dumb teenager who was scared for his life. Shouldn't have to pay the price with his life and I'm betting the cops injuries were not inflicted by that string bean of a kid. Cop shot that kid and had his friends rough him up to cover for his dumbass.

Is there a longer video that doesn't conveniently cut out when the fighting starts?

If I was in that situation I would have shown my ID and apologized, explaining my actions. If I got a ticket, I'd just file a dispute.

"Hello sir, here is my ID"

I've been pulled over many times and have been treated with nothing but respect from Cops by acting politely. There's zero upside to acting "tough", if you're going to argue then use your brain to think of a solid argument that isn't demeaning.
