Dude my pack somehow gained weight as i walked! Ended up being 55lbs coming out of towns. I think cause I started packing rotisserie chickens and fresh fruit. Managed to shave a few lbs at Harper's by sending home some camera gear and swapping the hammock for a tent but still heavy AF. Probably mid 40s out of town. Oh well makes for a better workout.

That's awesome, katadhin is gorgeous. I went skydiving out there and had an unreal view of the mountain and all the little rivers/streams around there. The weather will be great I'm sure, it's a few degrees cooler that far up and all the rivers are so nice to swim in. Have fun bro!

I landed at the millinocket muni airport. It's a good bit out from katahdin but when you're in the sky a mile above it, it seems like it's right under you. Definitely beautiful.

whoa youre going south bound and just hitting NH? Are you going to be out there during the winter? I love the section through the whites in NH. Pretty challenging place.

do you have to get a car for any parts or can you literally just walk on paths for 2k miles

Literally walk on path. No car needed. A lot of people hitchhike into towns to resupply before heading out on the trail again.

Ps, Karl Meltzer just broke the speed record last night.

Ya the whites are hardcore especially with the unpredictable weather. If you have a good weather day i'd push for as many miles as physically possible.

Side note... i was pretty beast mode by the time i got to NH. I was hiking up one of the mountains and passing all the day hikers with ease. All of a sudden this dude comes jogging past me. Most of the trail i had done on that climb at that point was damn near a 45 degree incline the whole time. I was mind-blown at that dudes beastfulness.

Here's a photo from Washington, it was nuts up there. 60-80mph winds, wind chill at 5 above zero, socked in by clouds. Felt like Mars. If the dungeon wasn't there at lake of the clouds we may actually have died lol.

My whole setup cost $450. Used Canon 70D and kit 18-55mm lens. Imo photography is more about the composition and post processing, but I would def have sharper pics with a full frame camera and nice lens.

Do you ever get lost? And how do you always know which trail to take? I've done day hikes in the Appalachian and it always took a little guesswork for me to stay on the trail I wanted to. But maybe I just don't know anything about hiking or navigating.

Just follow the white blazes. I did the whole CT leg (52mi) in 13 hrs as a run, more than half in darkness just by following the white blazes on trees and rocks. But I've been trail running in places I've never been before for a couple of years now.

Done some running in the whites in NH too. Pemi loop, presi traverse, wildcat/carter/moriah range traverse. I want to get back up there for a hut traverse and mahoosuc range traverse too.

Just have 475 miles to go now! Made it to CT today. Cold as hell the last few days and snowy too. Dropped to 20 degrees last night on the mountain. My sleeping bag + all my clothes was barely enough to stay warm.



Been busting out 20 mile days now that the terrain is way easier. Hit a PR of 23 miles in 9 hours three days ago. Barring weather I should be done in 25-30 days.
