I don't really think of myself trying to pretend to be a woman. I am a man. Actually, while pursuing sex does not consume my life like it used to, I still actually have a slight preference for women, though men are ok as well now.

It was not just being 5'6", but also the fact that I was mentally very masculine but physically somewhat effeminate, at least thats what people perceived. On the occasions I would be able to get to a point of having sex, either my lack of confidence on my genital size or womens preferences/reactions to it, or both, had an extremely damaging effect on my confidence as a regular male. This is not just about incidences when going out, etc. It could be something as simple as walking into a business meeting and being noticeably the smallest person (of either sex) in the room or waiting in line at the movies and a bunch of teenage girls are taller.

Now, I don't worry about my height or p@nis size at all. Oh, and as far as not harming myself and stop pretending, I guess if I stopped the hormones, not sure if it would make a difference as my t@stes effectively no longer work (think soft small marbles)...

And I don't care for treadmills. I do HIIT for 20 minutes, on elliptical, topping out around 237-240 strides per minute, for 20 seconds, then back to pace at 190 strides per minute for 1 minute.

Seriously, I'm a very quiet peaceful person.

Other than a few friends, I'm consistently treated as a freak even though nothing could be further from the truth.

Almost without exception, people treat me in one of following ways:
1. Disgust, but obviously very curious
2. Ridicule, in an emasculating way
3. Intimidation, people often try to intimidate me even if they don't know me as if its going to prove something
4. Violence, I've encountered several situations where I have been physically attacked, luckily nothing too crazy yet
5. Fetish, those that befriend me always eventually bring up having sex, never platonic normal friendships, and the vast majority of these people are freaks as the sex is often not what I would consider "normal", think jekyl and hyde types

Can anything be done where I can blend into society while being treated as a normal person?

They are a very very very very small minority.
They have mental issues, and its never discussed in the open nor are they willing to admit it
They ask for special privileges and sometimes those are granted to them even though the aforementioned small minatory of population.
They think they are better than everyone else because they have "courage" to do what they do.

I don't hate them, I just want them to realize it isn't normal for what they are doing and to seek mental treatment for it.

Well in my case, I did have mental issues before. I had depression as a straight guy. I am generally very content now. I'm not looking for credit or special privileges, but to be treated as a normal person, some times would rather be anonymous than a lightning rod for unwanted attention.

I'm transgender, but identify as a man. I don't act like a woman, I don't act like a man either. If I put on a lot of makeup, could probably pass a woman, but no desire to do so. On the opposite end, I don't have facial hair or body hair, so people can see that I'm not quite the "average" guy either.

i'm not caught up with the bathroom issue, but it sounds like many people, probably the majority of women, might feel uncomfortable with men in dresses pretending to be a woman using the same bathroom. if that's the case, then yea, trans people need to respect that. what's wrong with using the men's bathroom?

I would like see a study done to see how many of them have depression, suicidal thoughts, victims of abuse, ptsd etc to see if there is causation

I use the mens bathroom exclusively. I do get a double-takes some times, but I intentionally always use the stalls. Without getting into too much detail, I sit to pee as its kind of small now (around 3-4cm most of the time) so standing can get messy anyways.
