lmao my friends got so mad when I told them that Ukraine only won because their song is about how they suffered.

Cheap win IMO. Song contest should be only song contest, not some political related show.

Looking on twitter it seems that any political tunes are forbidden in Eurovision but Ukraine managed to get round the rule by her claiming the song was more about her grandmother than Stalinper se... Sets a bad precedent for future contests now.
I break into old ladies' homes, steal biscuits from their tins and replace them with sewing materials for maximum grandkid confusion.

Guys when you get that vote you are basically voted out of the competition. The guy who gets the most votes comes last. Gertting votes is like getting an elimination.

Technically you are alright, but the songs mostly suck anyway and the votes (at least partly)mirroring political relations/developments/opinions in Europe makes the show so much more interesting to watch.
I mean the idea behind it was to unite a war-torn Europe in the 50s with light-hearted programming.

Only reason it's annoying is because you're not meant to have political minded songs in the competition. People voting for politcal reasons always happens but you never usually get outright political songs, because it's not allowed by the rules. No idea how they let this one through.
