New squat bar has arrived boyos

Well I gotta give Bells of Steel credit for packaging srs .

It fits well on the rack , as I’ve heard some companies have the bends in the bar too early and it’s a tight fit . I mounted it higher by two holes than posted here , as it was too low because of the foam . Definitely feels a little alien , but can’t wait to try it on the next leg day

I turned it the other way in the storage rack as this is the wrong direction when you pick it up to put on the squat rack

I prefer not to see the huge text anyways

the handles were the whole point . I was getting bad pain in my left hand , like it was sprained or something. I thought it was from dumbbells, but then realized it was actually from trying to hold the squat bar behind my neck . Unfortunately I have shorter than normal arms , so I have to strain more to hold the bar . This is going to help bigly

I've had shoulder issues for years that up until recently prevented squatting with hands behind the bar - those bars would be helpful

Otherwise it's front squats and those stupid Bulgarian things because I don't have a hack squat at home

Have you tried using the shelf on your upper back and mainly just guiding with your hands instead of gripping it? Probably have to go low bar squats for that, though

lol I tried front squats and dumped the bar into the rack when I lost balance, and from memory I think I was just using the bar unloaded for a test .
Never bothered again

Sort of . If I’m really careful I can get away with it , but I think this is a better solution. I actually have a bit of hunch back from doing squats when I was younger because I had the bar up too high .

Good call on going with BoS over Rogue. Doubt you missed out on much. They are all EliteFTS clones. Congrats!

Yeah, I guess the handles aren’t really a bad thing. I just feel like it really transforms the squat, but that’s not inherently bad.

From the packaging looks like the barbell is easy to remove. Rogue barbells are so much harder to remove from the packaging.

The Rogue bar was 70 pounds and I wasn’t liking that too much . I prefer 45 as it’s easier to put on my squat rack plus easier to do the math when you’re putting plates on

I suspect I’m going to still use the old bar still on occasion once my hand improves . I also have a Force USA hack squat machine , so there’s that . Not really into machines tbh , but I thought it was a nice addition, especially for sloots . (Not that sloots use my gym lol )

Shipping was pretty cheap from Bells of Steel . Rogue was the expensive shipping ,but it was 10 times further away so it made sense .

I watched a YouTube video to figure out how to take a rogue barbell out of the packaging. The guy and his son used a screw driver and pliers which did the job well enough and is pretty much what I did. They mentioned that they made the removal guide because they saw heaps of people using saws and power tools to get the barbell out lmao.

I believe I used a hack saw lol . Wanted to use my Dewalt sawzall but was to nervous about damaging the end of the bar .

I have a Milwaukee hand tool that uses sawzall blades. Worked well for getting my last Rogue bar out of the tube. Agree there's too much risk with power tools.

Because I did some permanent damage to my back in 93 from doing jumps on my RM125 , I can only go to 165 - 175 max on squats.
I’d really like to do more weight but it pinches a nerve .
But regardless of that it’s been proven time and time again that lots of reps and volume can grow your muscles just as good as going heavy .
I’m doing 145-10 now and tbh that weight is good enough for me atm , maybe ever . I think if I get 20 reps I’ll increase the weight .
