I'm sure that's bullshit, but a lot of people do live in highrise buildings there built 50 years ago, so likely not with modern standards.

Yeah I looked into it after I posted. Sounds like 100K was worst case scenario. Their infrastructure is super old which would explain why high death rate might not be out of realm of possibilities.

100k possible not verified
A powerful 7.1-magnitude earthquake (followed by a 7.5) struck near Morón, Venezuela on June 24, 2026, about 100 miles west of Caracas, causing building collapses and shaking felt widely.
USGS issued preliminary models fearing up to 100,000 deaths in a worst-case scenario due to the shallow depth and urban impact, but this is not confirmed or “presumed” by officials.

100k is a crazy number but i'm seeing multiple people reporting it so it's probably likely even more. insane

Some of the videos on Twitter are Michael Bay level shit. Hope we go in and help them, srs.

Kinda lulzy to think US basically got an entire country by capturing the king. Real medieval chit in 21st century.

Most people in the Philippines live in little shanties though. An earthquake isn't doing shit there. The typhoons do a lot more damage than earthquakes in Philippines

And Japan. And California had one too, apparently.

Weather is getting pretty scary at times. We have tornado warnings up here regularly through the summer now, and it was unheard of to have anything like that twenty years ago.

Lol, Earthquakes are not weather. They are movement of tectonic plates.
