What i think happens when your frontal lobe develops
Theres a myth that once youre 25 it develops and you change.
Im not sure if it actually has anything to do with your frontal lobe but i agree on the change.
And what i think happens is you gain the ability to see things for their entirety.
Thats why your empathy goes up. Because when you read the news for example. Lets say theres a tragedy somebody dies.
When youre younger you read the article and youre like ’dang, anyway’.
Because you dont have a clear vision of the bigger picture.
Once your frontal lobe develops you see it further.
Lets say its a young woman who dies. You automatically think about her parents, you think about her dad. You think about a man living a meaningless life untill he got children and it was the happiest day of his life. Hes going to work not for himself but for that baby and theres good and bad moments throughout the years.
Then all of a sudden she is dead before her years.
You can grasp the entirety of the situation.
I think this is the wisdom you gain as you age.
Its nothing to do with IQ. You just see further mayne.

Regardless of whether it’s a myth, there was a noticeable change after about age 25 or 26 for me in terms of cognitive abilities. The biggest thing I noticed was that my creativity plummeted. I used to have spontaneous ideas and extremely vivid visualization. Now I have to work very hard to get into a flow state. I suspect my IQ dropped by about 5-10 points as well.
