Why do people still get “fast” food?

I feel like before it was actually cheap and fast. Not necessarily “food”, but at least cheap and fast.

It is neither cheap, nor fast anymore.

I hear more people complain about their experiences more than enjoy them.

Is it really just because it is an addictive drug?

It's just old habits I think. They used to be decent places if you needed a cheap meal and didn't feel like cooking or were in a rush.

Now... It's not fast, nor cheap like you said. It's barely even food. All of these fast food places have been hollowed out and gutted into a dystopian nightmare like everything else.

There’s something physically addictive about it, that’s the only explanation I can think of

I haven’t eaten anything close to slops since the kids arrived (barely stomached it before) and I have no desire to

When I was working it's pretty much all I had time for.

Now I'm semi-retired I tend to cook my own food. Fast food is likely cheaper per calorie, but fuck it I like the good stuff.

The real scam is restaurants. It's mostly Sysco trash but comes out at about $20/meal + tip now. I'll go to a diner for eggs benedict (pain in the arse to do at home) but not much else.

I cook on my Kamado Joe grill a lot.

I have McDonald's breakfast every early November at the same store. I used to work there but left in early Nov 2003, so its something of a ritual to go back there to mark the anniversary.

If I go onto an app, order some food for £20 (including delivery and service charge) then wait 40 mins for it to arrive in a lukewarm state, then its hard to class that as 'fast food'.

Yeah I only use delivery app to get my mother something on mother's day or her birthday cause she is out of state.

I use to use it when the cost was reasonable but now it's literally double the price, haven't used it for years
