You don't need a degree for this, and spending a lot of money on one seems like it's a waste, which is probably her issue.

If you want to pursue a career in something theologically based, that's a different story, but pursing a degree just for general interest is an insane waste of time and money.

But my wife's views on religion are simply:
-go to church every week without fail no matter what
-read a number of specific psalms every day over and over again while not reading or knowing anything else in the Bible
-not give two shits about the opinions of the people who wrote everything else it's just their opinion
-believe
-shut the fuck up


Pretty based actually but also pretty ignorant and misguided. (I could be wrong here though) (not likely though)

That describes most people brah srs. That's just the way it is. It fills the need for community and to have hope in something. Which doesn't require deep theological study to do. In fact, your typical fundamentalist pastor would discourage you from going to deep into theology and tell you that "you just gotta have faith".

I would encourage you to not go down the rabbit hole SRS. Once you take the red pill, there is no going back. Take it from someone like CJ Cornwaithe, who deconstructed after going to seminary, which is a common occurrence.

Didn't watch (yet?..) but I already deconstructed. I never was a true believer, I am just desperately hoping to find a loophole to eternal life. That's all I ever wanted. I want to ask a million questions to theologians and that's never going to be possible so the only solution seems becoming one myself. But it would probably be real hard to dedicate myself to that for 10 fucking years

I'm going to force myself to read academic stuff for at least 2 hours a day every single day. After a few weeks I will be completely depressed and forget about this stupid idea before starting it. That's the current plan. I don't doubt it will work flawlessly.
