Ive noticed that for most of the biggest guys in my gym or any other gym I have been to are usuallly balding or completely bald. Usually the biggest guys are those over 25 and it seems they must have used AAS before, and this is what is causing the balding. Its not a co-incidence that most of the big guys are balding or bald...just thought i would point that out

no flames intented but it is something to consider

DHT binds to the receptors in the hair follicles causing them to fall out.

This could be to due to genetics or highly androgenic steroids.

bodybuilders in general have thinning hair or are bald because more testosterone=less hair typically

That doesnt make sense. Why would high tesosterone give you lots of hair on your body, but take it off your head?

because test-DHT conversion is very high in scalp compared to rest of body.
Head hair is a different animal to bodyhair

my point exactly, you see all these mid-20's bodybuilders at your gym who comprise most of the biggest guys in the gym and they are bald...its a shame to have 25-30 year olds completely bald when mother nature may have only took her course 10 or even 20 years later

Don't put all the blame on the steroids bro. I graduated high school with two guys that were completely bald and I gaurantee you they weren't using steroids.

Maybe the bald guys are more likely to improve their appearance with physical training as a way of compensating for being bald.

Well I mean....Jay Cutler has a full head of hair.. so does Arnold.....I think it just adds to their "one large hunka muscle" look to have a completely shaved head as well....

dont try to get around the fact steroid use causes premature balding, it doesnt take a genius to see that if you abuse steroids you will be the biggest and baddest, and also the baldest...if your predisposed to it of course

It was once explained to me, by my old Doctor, when my hair started thinning around 20-21... That a higher test level when you are young, such as early bloomers like myself, is often a factor, along with genetics etc... For early hair loss... As the body gets used to a high test level... When Test levels drop significantly after the end of puberty, it takes hair with it. And that DHT is the engine that drives this change.

I would also add that since I've started doing serious weight training that my hair loss has stopped completely dead... Haven't lost anymore hair, but haven't grown any back etc...

The three winters before when I would just workout in from Thanksgiving to Late April, I noticed the same thing... While I was working out regularly, my hair would stay the same... Stop and withing 2-3 weeks I'd notice more hair on my hands when shampooing etc...

And for the record... While I started working out for a huge myriad of reasons... One of them was "If I'm going to go bald, I don't want to be fat to!"

All the steroids in the world won't make you go bald if you're not genetically pre-determined to.

Hair-loss does'nt run in EITHER side of my family at any age so I'm alright.

Exactly. If you look at 100 non bodybuilding guys. 40 of them will have thinning hair.

You do what you can to shore up the deficits.

Alright this is a serious question ,and please no stupid responses.

Anyways,
on my mother's side: her brother (my uncle) is bald, but her father (my grandpa) has a full head of hair.

on my fathers side: he himself was bald, but his father wasn't

so im wondering does it skip a generation, as it seems, or am I destined to be bald?

bald trait comes from your mother's father. if grandpa from your mom's side has a full head of hear, you're more than likely safe.
