I haven't seen anything about this game mentioned, so I figured I would start up a thread.

All of my friends have moved from H1 to this, and I'll be preordering and trying out that closed beta this weekend for sure.

Welcome to PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battlegrounds, where players will find themselves stranded on an island with up to 250 others. It's survival of the fittest; only one player can be left standing (or team in duo mode.) Begin with nothing and fight for limited resources, gear, and vehicles to survive. Scavenge over sixteen different kinds of weapons, from shotguns to assault rifles. Make use of the open-world map, exploring abandoned buildings, forests, and hills. Create and customize mods to challenge the community. Spectate and watch replays to see which player makes it out alive.

In a way, Brendan "Playerunknown" Greene is preparing to compete with several games in a genre he essentially spawned.
Greene is the creator of Arma 2 and 3's Battle Royale mod, and he later worked with Sony Online Entertainment (now Daybreak Games) to develop a battle royale mode for their zombie survival sandbox H1Z1, which became the standalone Early Access shooter King of the Kill.
Now, Greene and Korean developer Bluehole are preparing their own entry in the battle royale arena with Battlegrounds, which is currently in closed beta after roughly a year in development.

yeah i watched streams of this game and gonna preorder soon to get beta, although I saw playerunknown saying the game will go to early access straight after closed beta, so might wait cuz that will probably happen in the next few months. They are also gonna change the jumping animation which feels floaty now.
IMO this is way better than H1Z1. H1Z1 is too arcadey and the shooting doesn't make sense at all in that game, was fun at first but then you understand there's no skill involved. They don't even have spectator mode added yet for duos while PUBG added that in a week in closed beta lmao.
Also, PUBG shooting seems way more satisfying and the hitscan shooting actually makes sense in this game as opposed to stupid gun shooting patterns in H1Z1. Also in PUBG, it is all about the aim, so you can easily 1v4 if your aim is better than theirs, can't wait to make these plays. This is in the middle of arma and h1z1, not too hardcore and not too arcadey -> perfect

Have any of the survival games actually hit? They are a cool concept (FPS roguelike with RPG elements) but they all seem to be missing that special sauce.

H1Z1 has been my go to game for like the last 6 months, but all the serverwide issues lately have just been pushing me away.
Can't wait to try PUBG this weekend

I know H1Z1 has been top 5 on Twitch pretty much 24/7 since it released, and they've had several multi-hundred thousand dollar tournaments.

The most fun style of game I've ever played.
Tarkov looked interesting, but the games seem to take long and be too strategic for me. I like H1Z1's style of land, grab guns, and kill people. PUBG will provide that with more options for weapons, more consequences for ingame actions (weapons reduce running speed based on weight, etc), and better server response.

I got it after putting 200+ hours into KOTK and it is better in every way

Bumping.... Game released today
Put about 4 or 5 hours in today. 1 hour solo and the rest with 2 friends.
This is a really really fun game. I didn't really encounter any bugs except one game crash. Running it on 3440x1440p on a 1080ti on ultra with aa on medium. Drops to like 40s in tight buildings and stuff but like 90 fps when on open land. I'm happy with how it runs given most of these games run like that.
Its alot more intense playing solo but alot more fun playing with friends. Easily going to be worth the 30 bucks, Def going to play more.

I havent played these types of games before but i watched a few streamers and it looks like my style, i like the slow paced games aspect of it at the start and the intense ending
Just confused atm, on steam it says its released but it says Early access now available, does this mean the price will go down on it in a few days/weeks? someone pls explain

I finally bought it last night and played my first real games.
My computer is really chitting the bed, getting like 40 FPS with a GTX 980ti lmao. I gotta go optimize some specs tonight.

Had a **** around with it, it doesn't like one of my background programs at the moment but killed everything off and played a quick couple of games. Listen to "China #1" "Anzo #1" spammed for a minute, jump out of plane, spend a minute parachuting down, land, find stuff, wonder where everyone is, get shot, repeat. Fark, I'm hooked.

My main gripe right now is these ****in points. I feel like I put in mad work tagging fools up and dropping bitches and getting to top 15 then get like 50 ****in points lol
