I'm thinking all up (monitor included) at a $3 - 3.5k price (Australian) and ride this out for the next couple of years.

I have the idea in my head that when my house is built (still two years away) my house warming gift will be upgrading to the best I can afford - ie the top of the line graphics card and CPU.

With the above idea about upgrading in a couple of years my line of thought is currently:

Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL
Love the look of this and looks huge so seems like it would fit the GPU no issue moving forward (hopefully), big would also benefit making the build easier for a newbie like me.

I was originally looking at the best CPU I could get, however at the moment can get the following in a bundle for $937:
- Ryzen 5 7600X
- Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX AM5 ATX Wi-Fi 6E Motherboard
- Corsair VENGEANCE 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 5600MHz

Power: SilverStone Strider 80+Platinum 1000W Modular Power Supply
I figure 1000W is overkill at the moment but purchasing this now would be better than purchasing something else now, then another power supply when I get a beefier card?
Also, are there specific brands which I should focus on/steer clear of when it comes to power supplies?

Would cut into the GPU budget slightly if going this route over the above option for example.

With all the above I have pretty much $800 for a GPU if I want to stay strict to $3k.

Or I could bump it up to $1300 for a GPU if that extra money is going to get me a noticeable difference from the $800 option.

I could get a 7900 XT (not XTX) for $1300 roughly, or NVIDIA side I could get a 4070TI or a 3080.

Or a 3070 or 3060TI if I wanted to stick to the $800 for a GPU.

16-32gb is now commonplace. 64GB will be standard in half a decade, that's the point. why not buy RAM when it's cheap? my 10yo ivy bridge system had 32gb from the start. anything less than 16gb now on a purposeful machine is edging on the poverty line. even tablets have that much ram

in 6 years i agree about the GPU. the "6080" or "9900xtx", whatever will be a nice drop in upgrade with no need for need for a cpu/mobo/ram replacement.

32 makes sense, 64 does not. I can't think of any game that needs more than 16.

this reminds me of when the entire internet said quad core cpus are stupid for gaming, and 4GB of ram was more than enough. "don't buy the q6600, get the e6600". fukkin lol. also, "ssds are not worth it". a q6600, 15 years old, is still useful to this day, and my 256GB ssd still works in my old machine and is faster than a modern HDD.

$800 for a 3060ti is insane. though AUS, not sure. i bought the 3080ti for 900 and that was a hard pill to swallow. if you get a 1440p monitor you can get away with a 3070/4060 easily i think. i'd sell you a 6900xt(xh) for 500 US if you want. has the 18GBPS mem. used only 3ish weeks before getting the 3080ti

idk about monitors. i game on my tv (1080p/120hz or 4k/60hz), from 10 feet away. i have an UW thats great for productivity but not used for gaming

power supply is fine. the 7600x is a good cpu. id go 7800x though personally. i just hesitate for new amd socket launches but they seem to be fine

Your wish list is VERY similar to what I just built.

Get the 7600 instead of the 7600x. The perform almost identically once PBO is enabled. (I checked the 13600k, but total cost was about $100 more and for a gaming machine it won't matter.)
Motherboard prices are still stupid expensive, but for your requirements this one was the least stupid, but it isn't a great board. Feel free to go up a few tiers.
Ryzen seems to do very well with 6000 cl 30 RAM. It was close enough in price that I picked this one. (Make sure to enable XMP.)

For the GPU both the 7900xt and 4070ti are around the same price. 7900xt is better for raster 4070ti is better for RT and production, but has 8 less GB of VRAM.
The O11 mini is $100 cheaper than the standard o11. It still fits a 370 mm GPU so don't be worried about the "MINI"

You can find a used 3070 for pretty cheap now on the used market. I got mine for $500 Canadian. And even saw some going for $400.

I don't know what the used market is like in US or UK, but you could probably find one that wasn't mined on for $300 usd.

I don't get why people are so allergic to buying used parts. Half my PC is from Amazon warehouse deals and haven't had any issues.

The LianLi 011DXL is a great case. it's the one I'm using which fits my massive 4090 in it. great airflow too. just pricey if you want to outfit all 10 fans.

The 3080 is a powerhouse, that's what I had prior to my 4090 and it ran 1440p and 4k without issue. I haven't paid attention to prices recently, but I'd imagine that would be plentyre: ram, I would do 32GB minimum for sure.

almost everyone I know who claims to "only game" ends up using the PC more for web browsing, streaming, etc. where ram is useful. especially if you edit and photos or videos.

32GB min on any system, 64gb is fine, and 128gb ideally for top endFWIW, I think most people who know what they're doing PREFER mined cards.

90% of the time a mined card was undervolted and strictly temperature monitored. that's more than can be said for the dusty and grimy PC's that most people have lol

I never got a reply to this, but I did just get my Ergotron LX monitor arm. This should help clear up my desk a bit, and help me rearrange things. May post a pic after all is said and done, but man cable management is a true bitch. I have an ADI 2 DAC, Genelec speakers on the desk as well, routed to the sub underneath the desk so - heh. That did complicate matters.

How the F am I meant to know what plugs into where into the motherboard from the power supply, or the case, or what the random power cable was in the 4080 box that didn't have a matching connection.

So much back and fourth having to google/youtube things to try to figure it out.

Thought I was a genius installing the radiator and fans on top early in the process - but just screwed myself with regards to trying to get some other cables through the top.

Ended up completely removing the shroud from the Corsair 5000D Airflow case and said f*ck it and just have cables thrown every which way since the current set up is the glass side which displays the interior right next to a wall.

The youtubers who do this make it seem so easy.

Just thankful it *knocks on wood* looks to have all been set up correctly the first go round. CPU/RAM/Fans all visible and working etc.

I'm downloading some games now but haven't been able to test out the GPU which is what I'm most worried about. It does have 'Gigabyte' lighting up in rgb so I'm praying that means it's all good.

Got the $324 7600 and 650 motherboard package from newegg. I struggled with the MATX form factor as my hand struggled to reach.
Went with the 2tb P5 Plus for $124. Though After looking at the change in load times for gaming of less thank .2 seconds over lesser NVMEs I probably should have got the $80 670p deal.
I went with 6000 CL 30 after reviewing the graphs it looks like that is the sweet spot for AMD in terms of performance and compatibility.

For case I was pretty open with my choices, but I found that O11 dynamic with a B tier 750 watt PSU for $160. Seemed to be the cheapest combo of good case and good PSU.

I found packs of 3 RGB thermaright fans on amazon for 14 each. Totaling $44 after taxes.

Cable Management was a b*tch. Daisy chaining 11 cheap RGB fans together and another 8 case fans to my hub was a mess. If you aren't cheap spending more on the contact style fans might be worth it.

GPU will be on deck for replacement when I can get a 7900xtx or something similar new for $650 ish in 2 years.

Yeah I pretty much just use all my systems for that purpose now. I have a pair of 4090's (1 in each of 2 of my systems) and the dual A6000's with the 12900k. 96GB of VRAM is baller AF for making higher res fakes, or cranking up the batch training size (you get 2x the VRAM with NVLINK for machine learning, unlike with gaming).

A bit more at MSRP, but I got both of the A6000's on eBay for about $3300 each. I have an A4000 also in an eGPU enclosure on a mini-PC which I use sometimes when my main systems are busy to do lower resolution fakes. I got that card for like $340.

I've made enough last year to pay for one of the A6000's and a bit more. Some of it is private individuals who want a live model to use with a webcam, while a few others have been done for small to large companies. One I did was for an internal corporate motivational video, lol. Pay varies all over the place. Plus I get $$ from YouTube revenue (not much) and people donate occasionally to help cover my electric bills, which are substantial.

Well I mean I just started with the hobby maybe 2.5 years ago, and used my gaming PC hardware at that time to mess around with the software. Very few tutorials existed so I just played around and figured it out. I switched my YT channel from gaming/hardware reviews (which I was getting "some" views on but it was pretty slow going) to doing more things with Deepfakes and AI. Once I got proficient enough with Deepfacelab, I wrote up 3 full length tutorials and put them on my channel (longest one is a 4 hour video) to teach other people. I started also giving out free live models and doing livestreams to demo them on my channel. I have about 50 now on my Google drive of various celebrities. I put a business email address on my YT page, and created a ********, Minds.com, Parler.com, and TruthSocial.com page (Twitter banned me in November for no reason so that's out). I post all my stuff on those sites. I also setup Rumble and Odyssee accounts that auto-backup & sync to my YT channel content so it appears there as well.

I'm in a few Discord forums that people use to discuss AI/Deepfakes, so I get offers in DM's there to do paid gigs, and people started emailing me at my business email (free content on the channel drew them in) to ask me to do various paid work. I've done a commercial for a UK company recently (not published yet), working with a company in California doing an AI documentary, and did that one I mentioned for the motivational corporate video.

This is the most recent video I did on my channel if you want to go check out some of the content. I mostly do silly **** with comedy clips that make it fun.



I've also messed around a bit with Stable Diffusion and Midjourney to do AI image generation, and Nvidia recently released an AI video maker, so I gotta play with that.
