Market is pretty amazing right now if anyone is looking to build.

You can get a good 1440p system for $700 right now (12600kf and 6700xt.)

Thez790 Edge Maxis tempting, but at the end of the day it's basically a gussied upTomahawk Maxfor $90 more, although Newegg at least gives you a discount on both with a processor. Like I can't find any concrete differences between the two outside of aesthetics and an extra m.2 slot. Same ram speed compatibility, same PCB layers, and even the main VRMs look the same, just black vs silver.

Asus is overpriced, they're quality seems to be going downhill while they ride on their name, and they don't have the same amount of features or quality for the price. E.g. only 4 sata and... nothing else in return.

Gigabyte... no idea other than reading a lot about coil whine at least prior to theirrefresh. Me and my ocd can't live with how you're paying $2-300 for the damn thing to havethis cringe schitlaser etched into the damn VRM:
Spoiler!

Yeah it's petty as hell, but so am I for $300.

The possibility that theyhaven'tfixed the coil whine has me nervous though because it's still way too early for enough to be out there for people to report on such an issue.

Does anyone know how Asrock is doing these days? I've never used their products either, but I read they were remarkably solid for AM5. It also seems like the refresh boards are actually really solid, especially theNova, and now they don't look like vomit.

The Nova hassixslots for nvme drives, so the 4 sata is actually not all for nought. I think it's literally the only board with that many, and in that price range the only one with an error code and an actual backplate before you're paying silly amounts. I guess their RGB software syncs up with Razer's, and I do have their's because I have a Razer keyboard, so that might not be so bad, either.

The max GPU length is360mmlike obmas said, but I think the other consideration is on theGPU maker'sside because the average case size isn't massive, so they'd be locking themselves out of most of the market if they manage to make the next GPUs somehow even bigger.

Otherwise who knows, maybe they'll just use an external AC wall plug and power brick eventually.

I think theheightmight be a consideration with how thick the GPUs can get because then they can outright block parts of the motherboard, particularly m.2 access.
If height is an issue, you can get a riser cable a and mount it vertically. It's also more aesthetically pleasing.

But it shouldn't be an issue for ATX motherboards. mATX, maybe.

If you're a masochist, Newegg has a "store" on tiktok that gets you 25% off.

The catch is that it's not everything on Newegg, and you have to use not only tiktok, but the tiktok app.

I knew it was bad, but I never knew it wassobad. I have negative faith in the future of humanity after personally bearing witness to that abomination.

But hey, good luck to anyone who wants to try.

Naturally it's going to depend on the case, but how's the temperature difference on average?

I haven't really paid much attention to how that style fares, especially with the more popular Lian Li angled styles these days because I already have mine and it's more of a traditionally shaped Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2, so the vertical mount is a bit too close to the glass by comparison.

Slight correction: The z790 Edge Max also has an added heat pipe in the VRM, the Tomahawk Max does not.

Can confirm, it isnotworth the suffering.

I closed the app at least two times out of horror/disgust before finally reaching the Newegg "store," only to discover that it's a crock of schit. A chick was lip-syncing to a man singing in Arabic... what.

I will fuk with youtube shorts since i am a youtube premiumcel for a long time. But even then... it took alot of active liking and disliking to get the tik tok esque type content out of my youtube short algorithms. The amount of dancing videos I had to dislike will haunt me forever

If it's any help, Ithinkwith Youtube that you get the best results saying to not recommend a channel because their warped metrics still consider dislikes as "engagement." Combine that with purging any related content that might have accidentally wound up in your watch history.

I fell asleep watching some video (Amazon tv stick), but at some point they decided to automatically play whatever is next horizontally, which in this case must have been some Five Nights at Freddie's thing because the next day I had an entire row of Fire Nights lore videos that I had to keep saying to stop recommending until it eventually stopped.

It's still nothing on tiktok, though. They make you pick at least one interest, so I went with "animals" thinking, "what's the worst that could happen? They show some puppy videos?" Nope, just straight into random chick and Arabic music playing, or some bint talking about her homemade Taco Bell crunch wrap.

What's really rich is that I had read some article talking about how tiktok's shop was going to give other online retailers some competition, and sure itcouldbecause 25% off is a crazy good deal on tech parts. The problem is that it's a handful of items per category that show up, and then it fills the rest of the "store" up with random garbage. I had surf boards and watches mixed in with a couple motherboards, and then it just went down a rabbit hole of whatever.

The thing is, this was all still under Newegg's "store" on tiktok, but I don't know if they even sell all this stuff or what, but I wouldn't trust tiktok with my credit card information or anything of the sort.

Would anybody mind helping me troubleshoot why my ram unlocking/overclocking isn't working?

I had 2x16Gb ram and all i did was enable XMP profile. That worked just fine. I bought 32gb more of the exact same ram and after putting it in I was getting BSOD. Windows encountered a problem yadda yadda, no useful error message

I went into bios, just switched XMP profile from enabled to disabled and now my computer fine at the stock frequencies. I don't think I have fauly ram for that reason.

Here are the settings that are changed when i switch XMP profile from disabled to enabled. Maybe there is something here I can alter or something else I need to manually change to ensure stability?

The ram i'm using:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B15DST2L...roduct_details
The stock speed is 4000Mhz but i'm fine with it not being 6000, 5600 is fine or something like that, I just don't know where to begin with this

AI overclock tuner: auto -> XMP I
BCLK Frequency: 100.0000 -> auto
DRAM Frequency: Auto -> DDR5-6000MHz
DRAM CAS# Latency: Auto -> 36
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay Read: Auto -> 36
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay Write: Auto -> 36
DRAM RAS# PRE Time: Auto -> 36
DRAM RAS# ACT Time: Auto -> 76
DRAM VDD Voltage: Auto -> 1.35000
DRAM VDDQ Voltage: Auto -> 1.35000
PMIC Voltages: Auto -> Sync All PMICs

generally different sticks of ram should work as well since your motherboard is selecting the safest and slowest (if they are different) speed for all of them to run at..

but some issues can come about when different memory modules are used/mixed together like samsung/hynix/micron... and using "auto" settings on motherboards aka switching XMP profile on

yea you might have gotten the same exact brand, but the brand might be using different memory manufacture now from when you first purchased. some say you can manually switch your voltage from 1.35 to 1.4 or 1.43 and have it working stable..

did a deep dive and looks like the issue is that mainstream intel processors don't support quad channel xmp, only dual channel so if i want it to work, i need 2x32gb not 4x16

Anyone have wake up issues with oled monitors?

My LG cx will turn itself off when my pc goes idle, the monitors all go into standby

But when I move the mouse to wake up the other monitors won't display anything but black screen until I turn the TV on

Seems odd, not a big deal, but I'm curious why it does that. Some windows issue I'm assuming

Windows doesn't really play well with any kind of 4K displays, in my experience. I have signal issues all the time to either my LG C1 OLED TV or my 28" 4K monitor. It's not very consistent in sending out video signal to either displays.

Yeah makes sense. I noticed sometimes when playing on my monitor that I'd get a black screen flicker once in a while, I started turning off the 4k TV when I played and it doesn't happen anymore.

I wonder if windows 11 is any better? I'm still on 10.

No, I'm having issues on windows 11.

I think windows just has really bad HDR implementation. I've read that if you go to Nvidia control panel and lower the color depth to 8bpc or 10bpc, it should help.

Also, disable windows' Fast Startup

Yeah, hdr in windows is ass. I tried flicking that little hdr switch in the display options and had nothing but annoyances. Screen would go nuts just from alt tabbing.

I figured my issues were because I am running 4 displays and it was just too confusing for windows

Actually I think I figured out the problem.

It's because the monitors were switching to different refresh rates. I hadn't realized that one of my monitors is 75hz and the other is 60hz.

I set them both to 60hz and so far it's been good, unless my connected VR headset switches on and then its all weird.

Lol every one of mine is different, fml

240hz
165hz
120hz
60hz

Tbh for me I think it's hdmi vs display port maybe. I have 3 dp and 1 hdmi, and when I disable my tv(hdmi) I never seem to have any issues.

Dunno. Set them up all on 60hz and see if that makes them stable.

Both my monitors are on HDMI.

However, dual 34" has the vertical bars in the middle.

Anyone use 34" ultrawides vertically? I'm thinking maybe have a single 34" ultrawide vertically on each side of my 42".

Also any advice on upgrading from a 3070 to a 4080? Curious is 4080 is the card to go to for 4k these days.
I would probably just stack an ultrawide and the 42"

42" on top most likely as I'd throw secondary windows up top. Use the ultrawide as my main.

Or just put them side by side tbh is really what I'd do lol

Nothing is too ridiculous, I used to run my 50 inch 4k tv in portrait mode on a rolling tv stand as a side monitor lol

The only reason I got rid of it is because I replaced it with a 65" oled that can't be vertical mounted

Haven't gamed in several months...always been a console guy.

Wanted something around $1500 but saw this for a bit more and it seems good.

Console games i used to play were overwatch and apex mainly. Not sure what I'll be playing on pc tbh besides those. Maybe GTA 5 & 6, some COD, etc.

More excited to build a pc than to play games tbh lol.

that build seems ok, things like the case are very subjective and depends on what aesthetics you like.

It doesnt sound like you need an almost $800 video card though, could get something half that cost and always update it in a few years

That's true i could always upgrade. I've just never done pc gaming -besides the typical osrs, wow, and LoL, so it's going to be a new experience, especially getting used to mouse and keyboard for shooters.

Stretch your budget for an XTX. I have the same CPU with the XTX and it is one of the best purchases I made, every game just purrs along.

What should my budget be if I wanted 4k, 60 fps, and full ray tracing? Can someone build me a PC for a guide?

4k Ultra RT on at 60+fps is still not possible on most games native even with a 4090 as that only average 55.9 FPS in the Toms Test Suite.

With DLSS, switching to high, and a few other tricks you can go as low as a 4070ti super and have a good experience however, that isn't a great card at its price point and the 4080/4080S is recommended.

I would do something like this:

PCPartPicker Part List

Motherboard:MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard($171.99 @ Amazon)
Memory:TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory($92.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply:Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply($78.99 @ Best Buy)
Total:$2083.84

However, because I am cheap.

I would get this OPEN BOX 4080 at $827 right now.
