Holy shit. Game of the year so far for me ..... The OST is absolutely insane and lives rent free in my head. Legit every song has been a banger.... But the gameplay is so deep, with its tactics/xcom style battles and the amount of synergies and wacky builds you can do it is pretty insane. I've just begun scratching the surface of trying to gene-max my cat breeding ..... I'm not a fan of rogue-likes at all, but between this game and blue prince I've begun to start liking this genre a lot more lol especially since both these games have an entirely cool new take on the genre.

The game has over 200 achievements and apparently takes over 200 hours to complete as well.

Looking for something to play.. Been Playing Arc but getting bored of it

That's the new game by Edmund McMillen aka The Binding of Issac guy. Never been a fan of his style or games myself but I know he has always had a cult fanbase that absolutely loves them. His games seem to be like that though, where if you're into them they can become total time sinks with a ton of depth. I actually had a good time with Binding of Issac before when I got some good runs, but I generally prefer games like Hades for that genre.

I think The Legend of Bum-Bo is the last game he released and it was a spinoff of Binding of Issac, never played that but I know the reception was more divisive for his fanbase than usual.

Just finished South of Midnight. I'd give it a 7.5/10 on an actual scale, not a gaming journo scale where 7/10 is the worst thing ever. Its a fine enough simplistic game with involved enough combat and platforming to keep you interested. Story is pretty neat with the big mythological characters as well. It doesn't have that WOW factor but its a nice little 9 hour game.

Factoring in that it released for free on Game Pass or I believe $40 to purchase, it fit that "budget title" pretty well.

On to RE: Requiem now.

Playing remastered Saints Row 3. Graphics look great. Its one of those remasters where you really see the difference. The Xbox One release is about 45GB, as supposed to the Xbox 360 version which would be like 5GB (haven't check exact figures).



Plays well too. Cars handle super well, combat is smooth etc.

Yeah I've been playing Saints Row 3 and 4 on my Switch 2 lately as they both run at a smooth 60fps. I was actually playing the PS5 version of SR3 before that and I think the Switch version must be the 360 version because it's a lot smaller and looks closer to the original. For some reason the HDR or lighting always seemed to be a bit off on the PS5 version but it was amazing how good it could look for an old 360 game. Just a fun ass game in 2026, they really don't make anything like that anymore. SR4 was never nearly as good but I have come to appreciate it these days as it's own thing.

Its interesting how you mention the lighting. The game is so dark when your character is running around at night. It's hard to see combat clearly. Maybe I just need to fiddle with the brightness levels a little.

I still can't believe they remastered SR3 and not SR1 or SR2 when they're objectively way better games.

The first two were slightly more grounded and focused on the gang control element, then from 3 onwards they get more wacky and have spaceships, giant clones, virtual reality missions, aliens, life in the matrix. Not sure if I can count 'Gat out of Hell' as part of the SR series.

SR2 might be the best overall, but playing it hasn't aged well. I would need a proper high effort remaster if I were to play it properly again.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought so. I remember messing around with the display settings for like an hour trying to get the game to look brighter at night but not overdoing it so it looks washed out during the day or fucks up the colors. In the end I still felt like it was simply whatever they did to the lighting in the remaster that makes the game look too dark at night. I eventually got it to look better but it was still kind of annoying to play the game at night, which is a real problem for a game where it's night quite often.

Yeah I think everyone feels that way but from what I heard they lost the source code or something for the first two and that is why they couldn't remaster them. Heard they would basically need to do remakes and I guess they never wanted to spend the money on that.

The first two can be kind of rough to look at now a days but I got them both installed on an old Xbox One and can still have a blast playing them. I think gameplay wise all games in the franchise seemed to play about the same, just some gradual improvements here and there with sequels. First two were focused on trying to build up some street gang, felt properly focused on that which made them great. The first game always felt overdone, like they leaned too heavily into parody territory but it's still a fun ass game, just one that you can't take seriously. The fourth game plays pretty well but they went for this whole alien invasion thing and it's got a completely different feel as a result, much closer to Gat Out of Hell but more grounded in the standard city setting. The Gat game was alright, it can get old fast and is also the one I never had any desire to go back to, but it was fun at times and worth checking out, especially for the low ass price it usually sells for on sale.

Overall I have been enjoying 3 remastered on Switch 2. It's not as detailed and it's lacking the high resolution of the PS5/Series versions but the lighting looks better making it more playable for me. It's really like they just did a straight up port of the 360 version.

I wouldn't say it's as iconic as Mafia 1/2 .. But it's a step in the right direction for the studio again after Mafia 3. It's a much smaller scale, more intimate game. The gameplay is very much like a game from the PS3 era, meaning it's very simple with its shooting/stealth mechanics and its extremely short (maybe about 10-12 hours iirc). However for me that was perfect line that every game follows the Ubislop open world these days. The voice acting, character models/graphics were very nice and the story was somewhat interesting, if not a bit too predictable.

For 40 bucks it's worth it. Solid 7/10 imo.

Started playing Black Ops Royale every night and been enjoying it. Really enjoyed the OG Blackout and hated Warzone so this has been a nice compromise

Wise decision. I actually got into this game fairly recently. I was always a big fan of Mafia 2, I remember setting up a Windows 7 Shuttle PC with a powerful GPU for it's time just to play that game and several others like GTA4 on my TV back in the day because the 360/PS3 versions left so much to be desired. Mafia 3 was a big disappointment for me and many others though, and Mafia 1 released before I was really into PC gaming, I didn't play it until I played the remake and I was really happy with that.

This reminds me Mafia 1 the most, but that's not a bad thing. Mafia 2 always felt like more of a genuine open world game compared to The Old Country, which has the chapter to chapter story focused feel the first game had. I think that might be why some people could have been critical of it, because the story is fantastic and the action is a lot of fun, solid 3'rd person shooter gameplay. I also absolutely love the setting for The Old Country, that turn of the century era in Sicily. It's just a really interesting and different theme for a game like this and they really nailed that old school Italian mafia Godfather sort of feel. Hard to go wrong unless you're expecting something like GTA. This isn't GTA, it's like a true sequel or prequel to Mafia 1.

I beat the new TXR, been really into that and Persona 3 Reload lately. Still playing some Gran Turismo 7 regularly as a game I am always into, as well No Man's Sky and sports games like NBA 2K26 and PGA 2K25. The new Tokyo Xtreme Racer is absolutely fantastic, highly recommended if you want to play a racing game that feels like the GOAT era PS2 racing games, but with a lot of quality improvements bringing it up to modern standards. Also been into plenty of fighting games like UFC 5, Undisputed, and games like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. People complain about the latest games a lot these days but I never seem to have trouble finding games that appeal to my interests, I think the issue is merely people always trying to keep up with the latest new releases.

The hype seems to be building up slowly on the internet for it after the previews and what not. I'm still not sold on the game to be honest, but if it reviews well I may pull the trigger. Though I feel like I'd be better suited getting Resident Evil instead since it's not another open world game.

The setting was so good for Old Country, but for some reason I still feel like it wasn't executed to the best it could have been. I mean I dont need the game to be open world at all and I know they were working on a tight budget, but as decent as the game, I cant quite put my finger on it but it's missing a certain something that would have put it on the special tier.

Bought it, but havn't played yet. I'm sure setting wise it isn't anything like RDR2, but I would be playing just to take a break from the sweats on COD and BF. Will report back on if it is indeed missing something when I'm done, but then again its 40$ vs the typical 70$ so my expectations aren't super high.


This is kinda the route I went too, started with 2, liked it and went to 1, not bad. Few years pass, played 3, and felt like that was hot garbage. Chapter to chapter story focused is cool, I'm not trying to be sent on 1000 menial side quests that go nowhere (3). I'm expecting a nice easy, playable story as a break from other games.

Take advantage of sparring and paying for skill points. It gets way easier and more fun as you level it.

Such a short game, even by RES standards. <1 hour playthrough once you have good weapons and know the route.
