Thinking of getting a 1070, obviously the sooner the better but i've been hearing that prices might go down soon. Something about vega and i guess cause of the 1080ti too. Anyone know more?
Currently playing Warhammer on my 760 with like medium settings and don't even want to go back to the Witcher 3 again till i upgrade.

So yea the 1080 went from 700$ to 500$ very fast and the prices of the other gpus should drop accordingly over time. A 1070 won't cost 400$+ anymore if the 1080 is gonna cost less than 500$ soon. That being said it's not and immediate drop: I'm sure there are plenty of resellers who bought nvidia gpus for the old prices and still have them on the shelves so they will be reluctant to sell them for the new prices because they would break even at best.Thinking of getting a 1070, obviously the sooner the better but i've been hearing that prices might go down soon. When I was trying to mount my triple 27" Qnix, I missed a few screws, so when I went to move the setup from my bed where I assembled it, to the desk where it would stand, it resulted in 2 of the 3 monitors sliding off and dropping about 3' straight onto the floor.

DR is actually a color grading software (the best by many) but like most editing programs nowadays, they all offer some degree of overlap to each others specialty. This may be more than enough for most uses. The only to using it as an editor is that it is a hefty program so you will need a robust system which most medium to advanced gaming platforms should be able to accommodate.

I have an i7-4790k, any reason to upgrade? Looking at gaming benchmarks and the newest i7-7700k barely seems faster. It's been 2 years and yet no real improvements?
I guess I could wait for coffee lake with 6 core / 12 threads in a year or so. Just strange that Intel is resting on their laurels. Hopefully AMD's new chips wake up Intel.

- We haven't seen any benchmark running an AMD GPU. One reason is probably since AMD has not released a flagship card since Fury X in 2015.
- The past benchmarks always show Ryzen performing below expectations with Nvidia GPU both on DX11 and 12.
- AdoredTV made some bench test to see how Ryzen & Intel will perform using AMD card instead of Nvidia and comparing the results between using an OC'ed 1070 (to try to duplicate the 1080 stock results) vs xf480 (to duplicate what an AMD flagship card will produce).
- Turns out in most test that:
> Intel vs Ryzen @ Dx11 both, OC'ed 1070 is mostly ahead of xf480 by a small margin.
> Intel vs Ryzen @ Dx12 both, xf480 is way ahead of OC'ed 1070 in most tests. Which is contrary to the past benchmarks where Ryzen paired with a 1080 performs really bad in dx12 which is supposed to be Ryzen's advantage over Intel for now.

- AMD's Ryzen is not optimized for Nvidia GPUs yet.
- Intel connived with Nvidia to sabotage RYzen's compatibility with Nvidia cards since they assume most benchmarks will pair Ryzen with GTX1080. Not new for Intel since they played dirty in the past vs AMD by allegedly bribing PC makers to use Intel chips.
- Or Nvidia just simply sabotaged AMD by not making their GPU compatible with AMD Ryzen CPU.
Those are just assumptions, not facts. Not really impossible to think this way since both Intel and Nvidia competes against AMD.
At least we know now that the next AMD cards, even the rebranded Polaris' 5 series have a great chance to compete when paired with Ryzen CPU. Its actually good to know that even AMD GPU's performed well when paired with Intel CPUs.

Near the home stretch. Two parts left to buy to build and play on my computer on Wednesday.
Need a PSU and a mechanical gaming keyboard.
1) For PSU, what's your recommendation for modular vs semi vs non-modular? 600w fine for most users? I'm running i7 7700 and GTX 1070.
2) Affordable gaming keyboard? Would like to keep it around $50 if possible.

Just built this recently. It was on a budget but I wanted at least something decent for everything. Up until now, I haven't built a rig in like 15 years.
i5 6500
Gigabyte GA-H170M-D3H
Radeon RX 480 GAMING X 8G
250gb Toshiba 940 SSD (i had one laying around)
250hdd WD from a server
1tb hdd WD from a server
8GB DDR4 Crucial ballistix
Rosewill Line-M case
EWGA 500W PSU
I can play every game on Ultra settings at 1080p without an issue. Photo editing runs perfectly fine as well.

4GB Vram, 50% less pre-caching in memory (saves lots of memory) and the ability to have upto 512TB virtual vram, just to mention some of the new fascinating things with Vega.
It will be extremely interesting to see how this goes in practice. Especially coupled with a Ryzen CPU.
At this point it wouldn't hurt AMD making their products perform very good together based on their VERY competitive Ryzen pricing.

The 6/12 month rule is completely man-made and competition/market driven. The real bumps should come at or around the 3rd year at which time the price should drop in anticipation of the next true practical upgrade.
