cant fukn stand having to swap to mf gear after each kill when its already hard to get to the bosses without teleport..

just decided to do some trav runs only on my barb and started getting pissed and was about to call it but found a mal on my last run.

Ya, I did make a new insight on a superior base and a smoke for the merc which has helped a lot with keeping him alive and dealing with a few of the cold immunities. Right now pretty much sticking to hell Andy and AT runs though.

Not really. Its supposed to be that tough. What’s broken is some of the runewords and stuff they introduced later that made caster builds in particular completely op. You used to not even be able to buy mana pots. Something as simple as that used to help balance melee and caster characters.

yup, there was no mana pots on a very old classic D2 build lol. ironically, die hard D2 classic fans hate D2LOD because certain runewords completely destroyed the viability of many uniques and set items. That sweet early level necro wand you found? This awesome rare orb or staff? Just lol, do Q2 in Act 5, find a thul and crystal sword and make a spirit. Or buy a 2 socket staff and do countess until you can make leaf.

Probably dupes. I’ve had gear dupe itself in my stash. No idea how to recreate it but it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve figured it out.

it's auto picked up in d2r, but it's probably more useful to pick up exceptional and elite stuff like helmets, armors, gloves, boots, class helmets, wants, orbs. those usually sell for a good amount.

I was having a debate with friends about the direction Blizzard will take new ladders. The trend has been to power creep and I don't think Blizzard will change their approach. But I shudder to think of the BS that will come in new ladders that beats Enigma/Infinity.

So the only benefit of an enigma/goldwrap/maras setup in PvM is +2 skills, 70 strength, 8% dmg reduction, and 30% poison resist. I think Tal's beats it.

agreed mostly. nerfing infinity/enigma will be a hard sell considering how hard these items are to get, and probably should be at least BiS for many builds. But I agree on the power creep aspect and adding what seems like a bandaid convenient fix like massive light shred

Part of me wants to do atleast one character that uses no runewords. Might do it with my zealot depending on what drops I get. Something like a Stormlash would be a great endgame weapon.

agree that runewords just arent as exciting as a self found unique and kind of ruin the game.

was always more exciting finding your own shako, hoz etc and then putting it on. Even the sets too.

vs making a spirit that has runes that you can find in normal in like.. an hour

Short answer, unless you're rich I wouldn't slap a Nigma on your Sorc because the lower cost options are good enough. That said...

You can roll Nigma/Arach/Mara's which is a lot better than 3-set Tal's. You can make up for the slight FCR loss with a 2/20 circlet or+Skill/FCR/Res amulet (which could be better than Mara's depending on the rolls). You lose some MF but it's hardly relevant as you will clear substantially faster with the sheer +skill and +FRW infusion as well as be tankier from the DR/Life/STR boost. Mara's or gg amulet makes up for the res loss from the Tal's set. With a full charm/torch/anni setup you shouldn't even need to put points into strength which will translate into a LOT of free life from points reallocated to vitality.

15% damage Ormus with 5/5 facet will be more damage for a Blizz Sorc and won't require you to make up for lost FCR elsewhere. The improvement isn't as big on Light or Fire sorc because you will lose +2 on Light/Fire Mastery and every other skill - but it should be a bit more damage output still. You will lose all the tankiness, FRW and MF from Nigma though so generally speaking, I don't think it's better for PvM and in PvP it's a bit situational (depends if you expect to get hit or not)

had the helm on merc, so now need to either find another one or an andys which could take awhile... in the meantime was thinking of crafting a blood helm for survivability?

It may be BiS for a lightning sorc or a fire sorc.. but for cold, the 40% damage loss from nightwings and ormus just makes those two hard to beat.

And speaking of enigma, it's insane how expensive they are, they're going for 12k gold on d2jsp.. that's the equivalent of 6 tals armor. No way I can afford that anytime soon
Well that's why people have gold find and crafting characters - if you have a gg circlet/ammy/ring with FCR it frees up the rest of the build a lot. When talking Nigma on a sorc the assumption is that you have the resources to dump on minimaxing. BTW much of the tankiness from Nigma comes from the strength gain as its effectively trading for vitality (+2 life per str basically)

As for the lost MF, you're going for clear speed rather than maxing MF. You can still get well above 300 with only Gheeds providing charm MF and the returns are diminishing at that point. And if you're rolling a Nigma on a Sorc you're probably past MFing bosses and doing Cbaals, rushes, keyrunning, etc.

I'm thinking more of a light sorc here as that should be the end game spec. But if you're Blizz you aren't going high budget to begin with. That's why everyone was Blizz Sorc at the beginning of d2r - boss MF maxxing.

Either way, this whole argument is tangential to Nigma breaking the game lol

slowly progressing solo through hell. Just finished A4, got a gul rune from my hellforge.

Was able to do CS first try without dying, but fuk I'm far from being able to farm it fast. Still rocking a stealth and ancients pledge lol.

it do be like that sometimes - some days are just dry. you can always incorporate keyrunning in your routine to make sure you always get something valuable, though. if you can safely farm Nith it's the best key farming option by far.

It actually makes sense because 200-300 is the sweet spot for uniques/sets. 400 for godly rares,400+++ all you will get is magic blue items

I pretty much "beat" softcore, found everything I need, shako occy, soj, tal rashas, etc. No ladder yet so I am gonna try to "beat" hc now lol

and maphacks, chicken, mf bots are all out hence RMT sites/discord sellers, will prolly never go public until someone leaks them.
