Anyone playing an retro games lately?

Played some NHL 2004 and WWE SVR 2006 on PS2 today. Started a playthrough as Hulk Hogan in career mode and I had to team with Shelton Benjamin against HHH and Flair which I thought was pretty funny

I was playing some Doom64 for easy achievements recently. Is 2008 old enough to be 'retro'? as I have recently dipped back into Gears of War 2 after not playing for a decade or so.

I have also played faux-retro games (by that term I mean modern games designed to look like 1980s/90s games) like Vampire survivors.

I'd consider 360/PS3 retro. Though some people won't cause it's HD

Pokemon games are always fun to replay srs. I reshelled a GBA SP with the Groudon shell. Looks brand new srs. Also got a flashcart so I can play any GBA game and romhack games

I got the Gamecube hooked up the CRT recently so I can play Gameboy games on it too, but prefer playing on the GBA

How does the controls hold up? I find PS2/Og Xbox era shooter games have aged poorly control wise compared to other genres

The controls are still sharp when playing on the Xbox Series X. It hasn't aged badly at all on that front. The game I played is a direct port of the 2002 game, not a remaster, so I don't think that it has been spruced up at all.

I know what you mean though about PS2 games aging poorly. I played Saints Row 2 again maybe last year or year before, and the shooting and driving was so jerky and hard to get to grips with that I had to throw in the towel. It wasn't at all the amazing game I remembered. The rose tinted nostalgia goggles were shattered!

I got a PS2, OG Xbox and a Wii hooked up to my CRT, a PS3 and an Xbox 360 on my modern tv, plus a GBA SP, DS Lite, 3DS, PSP, and a PS Vita for handhelds. "Retro" never left for me, games from 15+ years ago poop all over most AAA modern games with their microtransactions and woke garbage storylines. Back when games were actually made with gamers in mind and not blue-haired "journalists" and corporate ESG vampires

I would personally love for any further Max Payne games to stick with the dark 'New York Winter' atmosphere. Max Payne 3 has great combat and is a good game in itself, but I the total change of scenery and aesthetic didn't do it for me.

'Manhunt' is on sale. Tempted to play, as heard the hype but never actually gave it a go.

Me neither I just don’t know if it looks like it can hold up well today. I’m too late.

They are already working on a remake of Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2. It's been in development for a few years now.

I’m kicking myself for giving away my old computer from 2003 . Srs I really enjoyed the older games like Unreal Tournament . Probably had more fun with that game than all the others combined. I never went online , just played through the campaigns or whatever you call them .
Unreal Tournament had the coolest weapons imo

Are you running OPL/FreeMcBoot on it? I was doing that for a while and it worked for me but I recently switched to the new PSBBN mod and hnnng dat juicy UI looks so clean on a CRT. Plus you get virtual memory cards, better running PS1 games with patches, artwork for all your games, media channels frozen in time from early 2000s Japan for retro vibes, and even the option to install a Linux web browser on your PS2 if you're a sick freak

Yeah OPL/FreeMcBoot. I have all the art works and everything too. OPL has virtual memory cards too. Was unaware of a new mod, pretty happy with the current setup tho.

You can still play Unreal Tournament. The games are available for free now, and there are patches to get them working on new computers.
