Lesser hardware = cheaper price. As I understand it Switch 2 is about on par with PS4 Pro.

It's a portable so it's kind of retarded to compare it to home consoles. As a handheld it's pretty amazing for the money, although a Steam Deck is similarly priced and offers a lot more flexibility. That said the Switch 2 feels a lot more portable and everything for it simply works straight up, while the Steam deck is like a gaming PC with frequent compatibility issues where a lot of games won't work or might require some effort to get running well.

If you're buying it for home console TV use that is where it is lacking by comparison, but at least it has 4K over what the original Switch was like on modern TV's and Nintendo games going for it.

True but people still feel the need to throw it in there and trumpet its price point. They need reminding of the reasons why it's cheaper. Yeah it has handheld capability but you can also dock it and run it as a console. Nintendo has been the cheaper console dating back to the Gamecube, and it's been the weakest in terms of power since the Wii. It's why they get shitty ports of XB/PS games and people act surprised that it's not the same as that version. You don't buy Nintendo for power though, you buy it if you like their exclusive IPs.

Yeah but you're locked in to just only Nintendo games lol wtf. Crazy how it's 2026 and Nintendo is still a POS company that gatekeeps.

On PC i can play all the games from every system, PC, XBOX, PlayStation, except for greedy Nintendo.

What I meant by that is how if you're in the market for a home console and that is the way you intend to play your video games it's pretty stupid to even consider a Switch(2). About the only reason to do that is if you really want to play some Nintendo exclusives, otherwise it's just going to be notably worse graphics and performance with a notably worse and more limited controller. I think of the portability as the main selling point for the Switch(2), if that is not a factor you are far better off with a PS5 and or even an Xbox Series X.

True but they do have good exclusives.

I think most people who get it either want a portable or have kids, or want the Nintendo original IPs that they're accustomed to from their own childhoods.

My main point is that it's retarded to hype it up as the "most affordable console" when it's not really the same thing as any other console. It's inferior to Series X and PS5 in terms of hardware. As a portable, Steam deck and Rog Ally are better and more customizable. The only reason to buy a Switch is if you want to play the games you can't play anywhere else.

So dumb that they've gotten away with charging people to play/chat online for so long. Like charge people for your game library IE PS+ and XB Gamepass whatever that's fine. Charging someone a monthly fee to play a game that they purchased is gay. It doesn't cost Xbox or PS any money to allow people to play those games online. The game publishers host their own servers for their games. And the costs for providing party chat can't be that much at all.

I mean yeah if you call it next gen though it's probably ps4 level if that

It also competes with all the steamdecks which were a great deal before rampocolypse

Nintendo has been super anti consumer lately. Another apple like primadonna

Gaming probably peaked early 2000s right when broadband was new

PC side everything has free demos and consoles you at least had access to lots of reviews. Ps1 I remember the game magazines had free demo discs so if you could check things out

Early to mid 90s were rough, new games 60 dollars so I remember some bargain bin 20 dollar games that were shit. Shaq fu and rise of the robots

Steam is one of the best companies allowing you to get a refund if you buy a shit game. I had a game just crash on my pc and they refunded me that was nice

Xbox letting you customize your subscription is what Nintendo ought to do . Never going to use game chat
