How did they even screw up this badly with Bray?

Srs.

He came back in October and has wrestled ONE match in five months. That march was a gimmick that mostly existed to sell Mountain Dew. Against an NXT guy who just got called up.

It's not even an issue with bad matches or an inconsistent storyline or whatever. They literally brought back a dude who immediately became their top merch seller... just to give him no work for almost half a year?

When everything the guy does turns into cringe wrestle-crap, it's not them screwing up. It's him.

The only time he was any good was when he was with Rowan and Harper and they were having cool six man tag matches against the Shield.


Good on him though. He managed to get the WWE to pay him to be a fat, non-wrestling, nonsense taker. All he has to do is go on TV and ramble and it doesn't even have to make sense and he gets paid for it. Other guys have to stay in shape, and take bumps, and memorize their lines, put on decent matches.

Wasn't it reported he got a lot of creative control over his character/segments? Maybe this was his idea?

That was reported but I absolutely don't believe it based on the Pitch Black match. No way he called to Mountain Dew and said he had an idea. Lol

Yep. They gave him more control over his storyline and character and this is the going nowhere nonsense he came up with.

When did they screw it up?
When he started 'murdering' other wrestlers, snapping necks and The Demon Twink just lay on the mat puffing like a fish.

Also, that match he had with Rollins a few years back where he kept kicking out, over and over. Got to be one of the worst matches I've seen.
At the time, half the internet was in agreement with me.
Although most of the NPCs have probably forgotten the match by now.

So much nonsense and no substance. Then this guy talks about it like, “you just wait!” when interviewed out of character. Like we should all be anticipating some deep and complex payoff that never actually comes. Instead the bell rings and the silly bells and whistles evaporate quickly.

Couldn’t help but LOL at the Rumble when this supposed dark and ominous figure Uncle Howdy showed up, and McAfee calls him Howdy Doody. Only to have said figure completely overshoot the crash pad spot, with delayed pyro as the icing on the cake.

That was without doubt one of the worst matches in history, but it wasn't on Bray. I highly doubt he was the one who picked the "let's end a no disqualifications match with a disqualification" angle. The second part was the video quality. On the live stream, the lighting was too dark to even render clearly. They actually cleaned up the video on the archives clips- which is part of why people forget how bad it was.

it was prob good he did that to Finn though, he came back from that to find his inner demon to do title match w/ Roman and then went goth for Judgement Day
