Nobody complained about Jericho or Golddust in WWE either. People complain about old timers, who can barely move anymore and just embarass themselves.

Seriously, early 90’s WCW and Vince Russo WCW was truly awful.
Those were kinda awesome to me as a kid.

How are they going to keep pulling these high risk moves off though without people getting injured? I feel like all of this was just to get them noticed but a lot of that stuff looked very dangerous.

They were doing spike piledrivers and tombstones and Dustin was literally bleeding as much as Eddie was

Are Pentagon Jr and Fenix full time performers with AEW or is this a one off talent share type of deal? These two would be huge if they're full time

Re-watched the show today. Thought it was excellent on re-watch.

If you don’t like Cody vs Dustin, I’m not sure why you watch wrestling.

The Japanese girls are on another level. I wonder why Japanese girls are so much better at wrestling than other girls.

I wonder if AEW having two really good tag matches will inspire the WWE to stop treating its tag division as a joke or afterthought.

It’s a bummer that AEW’s tv isn’t starting in the fall. After a show like this I’d really like to see the fallout on a show a couple days later.

They’re still AAA guys right now but AEW has a partnership with AAA, so it’s not necessarily a one off. Unless that partnership were to fall through, I guess.

I agree though they should sign full time with AEW.

after the first show here's my thoughts:

1) Roster very top heavy. Jericho, Cody, Omega, Page, Mox, Bucks...and then a huge drop off in talent quality. It's a good thing they have a talent agreement with AAA to bring in guys like Pentagon Jr, Fenix, Angelico and Evans. That Friedman guy or whatever his name was has potential from what I saw, but a lot of the rest of the main roster just screams indie wrestling to me, and not good indies either, but high school gym indies. They need another 5-10 or so legit mid card guys some with the potential for the main event. Jungle boy, Janella, and the emo guy are not going to cut it.
2) Females are solid. They can easily have as good a womens division as WWE. The four way match was a very very good match.
3) Chuckie T apparently decided to stop lifting and went on a dreamer bulk
4) Production was solid. But commentary was sub par. Bring in Stryker and Taz.

They've still got some kinks to work out, but overall I think they're on a good path. It'll be interesting to see if they tone it down in the ring once they start up weekly tv shows.

Dustin and Jericho get a pass because they still know how to reinvent themselves and wrestle their hearts out.

I was all ready to hate Tony Khan but after listening to some of his interviews I came away very impressed. Dude knows his pro wrestling and sports business and seems to have the right approach with AEW.

I was totally expecting a silver spoon that just wanted to have a toy.

And the company is not relying on Jericho and Rhodes like the WWE relies on Brock and Triple H. AEW is taking the NXT approach and making all of their talent look 110%, not just the select few.

I think sometime in the fall, which is good for them as it allows some more top guys to get out of their current contracts

I know Sami and KO still have time in the contracts (until like 2021), but I am sure they bail for AEW when the time comes. I could see Cesaro also bailing for AEW. I hope all 3 go to AEW anyway. Cesaro especially would be amazing. Incredible matches and doesn't need to be held back by Vince.

The landscape has changed, WWE isn't the only one with big money contracts anymore. AEW is arguably giving out even bigger money contracts (in large part because their roster isn't 4x the size) so guys can afford to jump ship/indie guys who are loved can choose AEW over WWE which I think a lot will if offered a contract.

AJ is another guy that wouldn't surprise me if he left.

AEW is owned by the Khan family. They are worth several billion and own the Jaguars and some soccer team in the U.K.

Correct. And I would have to think after AEW gets on weekly programming (cable) WWE will start to feel the crunch.

For anyone who wants to watch the replay go here:

https://www.fite.tv/watch/aew-double-or-nothing/2owc4/

You have to pay, but if you use a UK VPN you can get it for 15 pounds which is around $19 USD.
