Why can't AEW get it right?

Going back from the signings or Punk and Bryan Danielson which were pretty huge news at the time, it seems to me like AEW manage to constantly shoot themselves in the foot and sabotage themselves, keeping themselves "small time"

They make the same exact mistakes often that WCW and TNA both made.

WWE has been at various points in the last few years, very vulnerable imo, in that a genuine alternative, well run, well funded, well produced show could really have scored huge with the audience, and become a real competition.

Like I say, when punk and Danielson joined, it was like all AEW had to do was nail the basics, and they could have become huge.

Will they ever get it right?

I tried watching AEW once, and it had such late stage WCW vibes I never watched again.

The inmates are running the asylum.

Ex-WWE employees and twinks who no sell moves and curse too much during promos to get their point across.

They seem to have entrances locked down nicely as long as the live crowd can sing-a-long.

Unfortunately, AEW is fundamentally broken.

I gave them a chance, I was willing to stand by them and support them while they grew, foolishly thinking they would learn from mistakes and evolve over time and improve.

Very little improvement and for every correction they make, they seem to create new problems to weigh themselves down with.

- Why are any of the Dark Order still employed?
- Where is Miro? Where is Lance Archer?
- Why do they continue to allow the indy gymnastic matches that kill ratings?
- Why are some guys clearly being allowed to do anything they want to the detriment of the product?
- Why are the EVPs still EVPs?

I don't even watch it anymore, it's been months and I know it's still the same horse chit.
All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

bc tony khan refuses to hire a booker with experience and would rather book his shows like a money mark indie promoter

Modern wrestlers prefer doing cool moves that get crowds chanting over having hard hitting believable looking matches.

And because Tony Khan is a novice booker, he is over reliant on the input of talent who want what is best for them and not necessarily the company. See e.g. Jericho giving MJF a swirly before the gimmick match challenge, and Moxley having to get a win over Punk the week before the ppv.

Additionally, an issue that relates to the first point is that an indie promotion in California, that caters to hipster douches from California that think wrestling is a joke, has entirely too much influence on professional wrestlers across all promotions.

Because it is run by a clueless idiot who listens to & lets the children he thinks are his buddies dictate what happens. There is zero filter-like Russo in WCW & TNA, as opposed to Russo in WWF. Jericho was doing some dumb stuff in WWE the last 5 or so years he was there, but he clearly was on a leash to some degree, now it is gone you can see what a total idiot he is. Of course he also listens to Meltzer-whose idea of wrestling is little midgets doing flips & dives or garbage wrestling for the entire match-his & Tony's buddies.

Tony's dad must be a total imbecile-bought the Jacksonville Jaguars, Fulham FC & started up AEW for his coked up, retarded son to make even worse & run a wrestling promotion with even more incompetence than Herb Abrams, Joe Pedicino & that Gordon Scozzari kid.

And have 20-30 minute back & forth 'epics' with jobbers or guys AEW have buried for years. Funny the playkids spend so much time going on about a guy who has been sitting home getting paid for doing nothing for about six or seven months now.

I watched once and was baffled by the unrealistic gymnastics from indie twinks.

Hangman Adam Page is a twitter activist whose run with the title totally flopped. I think I stopped watching around the time he got into the main event picture.

Anyone catch that Dante Martin injury from last week? Sums up AEW. Goofy spots for a ROH [LOL, dead company is dead] sized crowd and his career will probably never be the same since he's a guy with little personality that depends strictly on athletic moves to get over.

And they still have the FTW and International Title. Two worthless belts.

Held by Taz's 150lb twink kid and some other random 164lb twink who wrestles in elastic mom jeans.

You would think Daddy Taz could help bulk him up. Taz may have been short which he had no control over, but at least he wasn't a twink like his kid. Doing T-bone suplexes just not believable.

AEW needs to reduce the number of belts in circulation by 50%. That alone will greatly improve the product.

Regarding Hangman Adam Paige - he has the charisma of a doorknob, so he was always going to be better chasing the title than having it.

They seemed to have no plan for him once he was champ.
