Are Bodykits Worth It for a Daily Driver?

I have a 2018 370Z. I recently paid it off. I'm more concerned with aesthetic mods vs. engine mods at the moment. I'm not as hardcore of a car guy as others as I didn't grow up with friends who were into cars.

Anyways, the Z is my daily driver. I get it detailed once a year and generally keep it pretty clean. Almost 30K miles and it still looks new brand new both in and out.

The bodykit I want is only offered in FRP or Carbon. I'm leaning towards FRP cause I wanna paint it. But I started reading more about it and apparently FRP and Fiberglass crack easily. Wondering if it's even worth it for a DD.

Anybody run kits on their DDs?
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Not really. Going to scrape dips coming out of parking lots and some ass chat is going to back into it when you're at work.

People are low-IQ and can't think about what's going to happen to them five minutes from now. I would never give them an opportunity to hit something like that because they will.

Lower it on Eibach pro kit lowering springs.

Looks clean, no bodykit.



Or, take it up a notch, gloss black the trim, gloss black Nismo OEM factory wheels, wing, and tint the windows.

I don't see the problem with it. Just nothing that turns into an eyesore. Too much can make the car look ugly. Why body mods before motor?

Edit: go with carbon. I had a fiberglass front lip on an old civic. Someone's skateboard rolled into it and it cracked. Skateboard had to have been going 10-15 mph. Or maybe it was just a cheap POS

Let me preface this by saying I am very biased about this issue, so I hope no one takes any offense to this, so now that's done, I'm just going to go out and say it: body-kits just make a car look worse overall, and those that do look good are in the minority. To put things simply: it is such a cringy, ricer thing to do.

I can get a spoiler here and a skirt there, or even adding a widebody kit in the event of an engine-tune + wider wheels, but an entire body kit on a stock vehicle? All you're doing is adding weight to the car and screwing with it's aerodynamics.

You would be better off spending that money on a decent tune.

I'm a big fan of the clean OEM look (other than lowering it)

The Z is already a sexy car out the box no need to "doll" it up

Honestly at this point after doing more research I'll probably get more value for my money if I start with bolt-ons and a new exhaust. Maybe a carbon front lip to attach to the front bumper but the OEM plastic aero bumper on my Z scratches on everything so I'm hesitant to drop $600 for a carbon lip that'll just get fukked up.

I'm looking at Injen Cold Air Intakes and a Motordyne Exhaust since they don't require a tune and can net me 30HP simply by swapping out the stock components.

I've looked at more popular CAIs but some require modification of the engine bay and shaving plastic for fitting which I'm not experienced enough to do myself.

Also forgot to mention my Z is Chicane Yellow

Get some forged custom wheels and a custom paint job it will look way better than a body kit.

If you want to change up the looks just go with either the V1 or V2 nismo aero kits. Those look the best IMO.

My take? Start with the intake and exhaust first and see if that doesn't scratch the itch to modify.

Yea the Fujimura kit is pretty conservative in its design while still being aggressive but not in an overly gaudy/ricer way

After market parts only reduce the value of a car. So if youre ok with throwing money in the trash to have a car that looks different, go for it.

I did it over and over again until I hit 35. Now I just do basic bolt ons that can be easily removed.

body work is so expensive... generally several thousands (materials + labor) to do any type of work, and it will reduce the value of the car and will not objectively improve the car (you may even regret it or end up growing tired or the bodykit look and wish you kept it clean OEM+)


370Z is a nice car if you keep it clean and put a nice exhaust on that V6

Never understood the point in kits. Its like people who get body kits didn't know they could just get wider tires/flares/lip/diffuser and have a much better looking car with actual performance upgrades for much cheaper. Getting a kit fitted with proper paint is thousands.

No point in daily driver body kits. I think actual aero mods look better anyways.

I'd say this is a personal preference.

I'm picking up a Lexus IS300 wagon next week and it'll be my only car for the time being as we recover from Hurricane Ida. The car will be on coilovers and wheels, also plan on getting a full Altezza Gita lip kit and eventually getting a Vertex V2 front bumper and side skirts. I've driven lowered cars for a long time so I'm not afraid of my stuff getting destroyed. The only time I've broken any body part was when I hit a squirrel or racoon and ripped off my STI V limited lip on my 04 WRX.
