Do you guys invest in micro chips?

I typically don’t take individual positions and etfs

But I just had my first 5 bagger

Bought amd for 93 bucks back in 2019 i forget and it’s 497

I literally just 5x 100k srs

Literally this stock made my life im so happy

I literally have half a million dollars off one stock

Congrats!

I hit pretty big on AMD calls this spring. Rolled them into calls for AAPL, SHOP, AMZN, and PLTR & NVDA

NVDA and PLTR are red, everything else doing well. Every time I buy NVDA calls the stock slumps but I have all summer until expiration.

I want to jump on the MU and SNDK hype but I am staying disciplined.

$500k windfall, I would seriously consider putting it in a dividend heavy portfolio and supplement my income.

Yeah. All the chip stocks have been very good the past year. I originally bought in AMD in 2016 when it was around 2.50 and sold for over 100 in 2021. Bought back in a little lower than you and held till now. I mostly missed Nvidia, but could have retired if I'd just put it all in AMD and held till now. That's life, I suppose. Sandisk, Micron, Intell, Western Digital, Texas Instruments, Taiwan semiconductor, etc. have all done well. Tough to find one that isn't up over 100% in the last year.

I'd avoid the ones that don't have their own memory chip fab. AI's snatching all of that up, the bigger ones will soldier on (NVIdia, Intel, the non-chip producing part of Samsung) but a lot of the smaller ones are fucked.

I was late in the game, I didnt think it could go up much more but was eyeing AMD for a while and it had a huge run last year

I bought amd, tsmc, Intel, Lockheed in January

Overall return is 73 percent YTD

I thought Lockheed would go up from Iran but its down now. If I would have bought USO instead it would have doubled

I want to keep everything until at least next year this is in my taxable account. In the US you need to hold for a year for capital gains rate

I let my work do my retirement investing for me. worked for alberta trailers company and every year they send me updates on my investments around 12k

current work also contributes to my retirement too

Maybe IBM, longer term. They are only 200 something billion market cap. They are one of the bigger quantum chip companies. Google is too but Google is already huge. US gov is starting to invest in IBM
